Why did 2xko get 0 hype? I haven't played it myself but it looks visually appealing.
>>
>>730826832
A couple reasons
>it's based on League, which is over the hill and hated by even the people who still play it
>the launch roster is small and full of characters of questionable popularity, many of them from the recent animated series which massively disappointed people with its second season
>fundamentally its design is confused, having both a simplified control scheme for people who do not play fighting games yet being designed around long degenerate tag combos only liked by people who play exclusively fighting games
>it's not yet on consoles and has a very invasive anti-cheat on PC that is so bad people will pass on the game just for that
>it's balanced like shit with tournaments being 99% identical teams which is a huge turn off even if you aren't looking to be a tournament player
>>
>>730827262
>has a very invasive anti-cheat
Forgot how invasive riot is

>accessible, but not casual, as stated here >>730827262
>small, cancer roster
>long combos that can two-touch you, one combo break per round typically
>tag fighter, so it requires learning 2+ characters (juggernaut and sidekick are mediocre)
>invasive anti-cheat
>embarrassingly bad balance
>incredibly annoying character archetypes
>every character feels broken and un-fun to fight against, even Braum can feel frustrating
What's there to like? Fanservice?

people genuinely got tired of waiting for it and when it finally came out it was an incredibly barebones confused tag fighter that has no real identity with only 10 characters but plenty of 20 dollar skins and 100 dollar skin bundles, the small roster also being the most boring league characters didn't help.

it lost all its momentum. Shouldve released it when Arcane was still around and relevant.

>>730826832

Nobody cares about LoL any more. Its last change to gain new consumers was Arcane and they fucked even that up in the end.

>small, cancer roster
>embarrassingly bad balance
thats the biggest issue. They took over half a decade to make it and theres not even much to show for it. Also taking so long making console ports
>>
>>730826832
its pretty fun but i stopped playing because the zoners were totally fucking cancer

>>730826832
>lol fags don't play anything else
>make a game based on lol
>they don't play it because they only play lol all day

Because it's not a league of legends game, seriously take a look at it, nothing about its visual design is league of legends, the menus, the hud, the fonts, even the color choices are not league of legends, now yes league has no actual identity anymore but it does have old very specific looking hud elements and fonts as seen in this pic, and 2XKO does not lift any of it, no instead they're going for a bland as fuck minimalist ""sports"" look to look real esports, it just has no character at all to it, and this clashes horribly with the actual characters and stages which are this 13yo shitty fantasy universe aesthetic, nothing about it works, and it extends to other stuff, fuses? unrelated to league, could've been something as simple as runes to tie it back to league of legends set on RUNEterra, but no fuses because it sounds vaugely modern and esporty? I don't know it's a shit name.
>>
>>730826832
It got tons of hype but the game is fundamentally dogshit
>>
>>730829471
the old versions seem to have similar style to LoL. My guess is they changed it so it has its own identity
>>
The fact that you use a censored modern LOL design in your thumbnail is probably why.

hell it even extends to the lobbies, look at the 2xko one, is it set in a tavern the heroes would hang out in? some magical garden or maybe some steampunk machinery?
No. it's set in a vaugely scifi esports arcade, zero connection to league visually or worldbuilding.
Compare to GBVSR, yes theres arcade stations but the settings is still a floating sky island that feels like it fits with the world of GBVSR even if it's a bit sillier, it is visually interesting it feels right, they even divide up areas with elements which is a huge part of GBF.
2XKO genuinely feels like an unrelated fighting game that was forced to put on the skin of league of legends but then everyone forgot to market it as league of legends, this isn't even going into how it doesn't even try to adapt anything from league to make a unique fighting game, no just shittier mvc for you.
>>730829682
ironically they changed it so it has no identity.
>>
>>730829054
it should've released in 2019 as covid hit, if it had come out then it would've replaced Strive in the history of fighting games
>>
>>730826832
league of legends is gay
tag fighters are gay
2xko is double gay, possibly even triple gay

>fighting game
>on pc

The game fundamentally has too many buttons.

SF has 6 buttons, 3 punches 3 kicks.
Tekken has 4 buttons, one for each limb.
Guilty Gear has 5 buttons.
VF has 3 buttons.
Marvel has 6 buttons.
The list goes on and on, but 6 buttons is essentially the upper limit for 99% of fighting games. Even SF's 6 buttons are just 3 types of punch or kicks. All other buttons in these games are just combination inputs.

2XKO has like 7 or 8 buttons. It's just way too many buttons, even for experienced fighting game players. The tagging system is too complex and weird compared to the simplicity of say, Marvel or DBFZ. And there is simply no overlap between MOBA fanbase and fighters. MOBA players blame all their losses on teammates, fighting game players know their loss is their own fault.

2XKO / Project L was always an ill conceived idea, and the execution is awful. That being said I want to eat Tristana's ass.
