>Played through Alan Wake for the first time
>Actually shocked at how much they lift from New Nightmare and the reboot that it starts to get uncomfortable
>Think "no that can't be right... Alan Wake came out before the Alone in the Dark reboot, right?"

AITD Release:
June 20, 2008

Alan Wake Release:
18 May 2010

It's like Alone in the Dark 2008 was mandela affected out of existence and now another game is wearing it's skin acting like it invented flashlights and shadow creatures.

This especially feels wrong when Alan Wake turned out to be a poorly written and braindead shootan game.

Alan Wake was comfy. Sorry you got BTFO though and guess.

Just wait until you learn about the original, pre-Xbox exclusivity story.

It was 1:1 Silent Hill 2 knockoff.
Dead wife, guy goes to the town to look for her, spooky shit starts happening.
It was also going to be open world, with fancy physics simulated weather effects and shit.

But then Microsoft butchered it.

there's a reason no one talks about alone in the dark
