They follow them to a tee instead just borrowing the good elements of the gameplay. It's always a dark fantasy with an iframe dodge and you die in 2-3 hits, and there's some death mechanic that handicaps you and you have to retrieve something where you died. Except they always gimp out on the RPG elements and make it more shallow.

Dark souls was only "good" because it was first and muh atmosphere. They just do dark souls again so it's not good at all.
