Open worlds need to reign it in. People don't want *an actual city*. They want something that feels like a city that they can also easily remember the navigation for. Ever since GTA:SA this has been getting worse and worse. GTA3 and Vice city had the perfect scale for open worlds.

Also Vice City had the best soundtrack but that's a separate issue.

i agree the layout of GTA SA is way worse to play in but it did make up for it with the myths and legends culture that developed around the game, supported by the creepy desolate environments in the map.

Do millennials actually have this problem with today's larger game worlds? Is that an aging thing? It really doesn't take that long to memorize modern world maps.

I don't think zoomers are the ones whining about modern GTA and wishing it was more like crusty old Vice City, gramps

how do you have trouble remembering the navigation when these games have minimaps, world maps, significant landmarks, and theming???

I always thought the maps would be way more fun if they just combined interesting elements from multiple real cities. geographically interesting areas. Add verticality instead of obsessing over size. GTA4 had the right idea.

Do something crazy like copy Chicago's multi-layered streets and paste it in geography like Seattle.

people do not want cities period. There's literally nothing to do in em. This is no pathalogic.

Yeah, it's Reviced except I deleted the custom wanted level script. I tried the Improved Classic first but it has a lot more streetlight flickering for some reason.

This is just for more PS2-accurate HD fonts/weapon icons/radar if you or anyone else wants them, it doesn't touch anything else

this, I’m 36 and I like open worlds

it’s immersive because the actual world is like that, periods of nothing except irl you usually encounter stupid bullshit but in vidya you can find a dude screaming because he got a fishook caught in his pisshole and you can either help him or tell him to go catch a bigger dick

You aint wrong. But I like san andreas. Sometimes it was fun to get lost in the country side on a long drive. Gta5 fucked up the countryside so badly. It felt pointless. It didnt need to be included.
