Why don't gamers use Linux for gaming?
>>
>>730845976
Most of gamers are black and/or american

Every single person I have known who has used Linux with sincerity were people who thought they were the shit but were pretty retarded when it came to running anything.

Excel and Access users? Different story altogether. /tg/ had a guy who had shoved so much shit into an Excel spreadsheet it was able to effectively play a table top RPG.
>>
>>730846468
the most complicated part about linux is the installation that pretty much amounts to burning an iso and booting on the usb.
>>
I like it if games work
>>
Because most people are normies and normies are retarded. They will never do anything that isnt the default popular thing because it would require being an actual person and not just a trend following npc.
>>
>>730850405
All of my games work just fine on linux with Proton GE though.
>>
Honestly, I believe that there is about 1% of people that take an interest in the available settings for whatever application they're using. 99% of people will install something and use the defaults.
I have no problems with gaming on Linux (Proton-GE just fucking works), but Steam by default doesn't support using Proton, you have to manually enable it and restart. Then go to Steam > Settings > Compatability > Pick Proton Experimental (Which is actually the correct latest low-risk option that is labelled like its something fucky)
As basic as this is, I think its too much for the vast majority of people. Valve could do better here.

Gamer here. I use Linux for gaming.

browsers are the same on windows and linux though?
>video file
there's like a dozen video players, this has nothing to do with linux as you can even use vlc if you like. you probably want to enable hardware acceleration.
>>
>>730845976
I do

Im both

I don't pretend to be smarter than anyone else, Microsoft just pushed me to my limit with how dogshit windows is.
>>730850405
All of games I play work. But maybe that is because I don't play anything multiplayer and mostly emulate ps2 and gamecube games.
>>
>>730851936

>>
>>730852579
Arch. You either use Arch or if you want point release, Debian.

Hardware accelartion is fucked on Linux, its sad that these troonies wont tell you about this, you have to pray it works oiut of the box or you have to do annoying shit to try and fix it
>>

somehow my desktop linux works just fine and I dont have to make up random shit on 4chan to cope with the fact that my os is getting worse every single day.
>>
>>730852943
Oh I use linux too mr troonie, I just accept that both OS are shit, only that Linux is acceptable choice for browsing and shitposting, I still have a windows 10 ltsc dualboot for gaming thoughbeit.

Windows rides decades of inertia: it is the system that everyone knows, and the system that has all the programs that everyone knows. Moving to Linux requires exerting the effort of learning a new system and finding alternatives to the programs you use. You may think trying new systems is fun, but most people just want to keep doing things the way they already do.

Linux Mint too unstable on my PC, the environment crashes on average once a week and I've got shit to do. Also stupid things like can't set scroll length and do proper Wacom tablet settings via GUI, and Krita is also unstable and slow compared to CSP. And all full stack video players have trash UX compared to MPC-HC. Also can't hold down my scroll wheel to go up and down on webpages on Brave. Those are the major issues with the loonix experience right now. I'll try the next big version of Mint
>>
>>730845976
Because it's inconvenient to switch to it. It's the same reason why retards keep forcing Steam like an be all end all service for PC gaming: They already got used to using it so it's inconvenient to use something else. It's lazy and retarded.
>>
>>730852642
Have you ran into any problems running games? What about the drivers nvidia and amd?
