It really bothers me how you never actually feel like the Sheriff in VTMB2. You never feel like Ryong's right hand. There was never a sense of being this powerful (but magically hobbled) vampire that consents to follow the will of a rather young and foolhardy Prince. Feeling like a sheriff would require a series of quests where you resolve conflicts and enforce the will of the Camarilla, and the game doesn't really have that. In the 2024 version of the game, it appears that you worked for Campbell during at least part of the game. There's a quote from him in the dev diary (completely missing from the game) that likely summed up his attitude towards you.>"I know. I see the smile that does not reach your eyes. I see the brow that furrows, the dawn of panic. I see the tension in your shoulders, the hands that clench. Oh yes. I know. Why should my next word not end you?"Campbell being the Prince was changed so that he dies before the story starts. No idea why. And the end result is that Ryong is Prince and she's a complete pushover that tries to talk tough. There is no sense at all that she will do anything if you fuck her over, and she doesn't do anything. It's so weird. Working for Campbell and then Campbell dying and Ryong taking over would have been a nice contrast.
