I like hunger systems in games, there, I said it.
It's great in Minecraft and Vintage Story. I like having a reason to make a farm. In Hytale, there is no hunger system, when making a farm, I'm thinking, what's the point?

for healing only, just like the old days. hunger in those games is just a system that forces you to babysit it for no other reason than for the sake of it.

Family guy isnt funny

True. When Animal Crossing added it, I just wondered why. Seems like pointless tedium when they could've just made a cafe spot that sells these items
>>
The introduction of hunger allowed for food to be stacked.

I'm so sick of survivalshit mechanics you wouldn't believe, Hytale is a breath of fresh air
>>
I like hunger systems too but I wish devs would remember humans can literally go days without food before it's a serious problem. So many games with a hunger system expect the player character to eat more than I do in real life and I'm an enormous fatass.

it makes sense that you would get hungry walking at a brisk pace or sprinting everywhere and hauling a several tons of material around and wearing full platemail.
would it be more satisfying if hunger worked off of the armor youre wearing? full weight mechanics would just be annoying.
>>
If a roguelike has a hunger system with a very limited number of food items to make you rush through the levels like Pixel Dungeon, I'm not playing.

Changing it depending on what armor you're wearing would be interesting, because it's really annoying to start a new world and end up losing half your hunger meter by the time the sun sets on the first day.

I disagree. If anything I found physical labor used to make me less hungry. I'd be thirsty as shit though. Drank a lot of water back then.

Shit tier
>eating is just necessary

Meh tier
>eating is necessary but also restores health

Passable tier
>eating is necessary, but it also offers various buffs and healing depending on your "diet"

Actually good tier
>eating is necessary, weight gain and loss are a thing and have actual impact on character look & gameplay
>game has cooking, and different ingredients/foods have various effects beyond just buffs or healing (IE meat eating for melee builds, veggies for healing, fish, mushrooms and herbs for mana etc)
>>
I like making a female character and stuffing her face while jerking off

There's something hot about a borderline cavewoman killing some beast, then skinning, cooking, and eating it.

i like pixel dungeon, but the hunger managing is annoying

I really liked Valheim's hunger system
Every food item you ate gave you a variable amount of stats (hp, stamina, regen) for a variable duration, and you could stack up to three items from different food categories, like grains, meat, shrooms etc. It gave you a reason to find or develop different sources of food, instead of just stuffing yourself with a billion berries whenever you got hungry.

boss preparation is fun in these survival crafting games.

I prefer when it's more than just a bar that ticks down.

You didn't do much physical labor.

In Kingdom of Loathing &co., being full is bad because it means your buffs are already locked in for the day
