>>730862528
It will never happen.
Stadia failed to become trendy years back because people prefer to own their hardware and the added lag makes a whole ton of games unplayable, particularly in multiplayer because of the effectively doubled network traffic. Imagine having ping in a singleplayer game, now imagine you have to compete for bandwidth to play a singleplayer game, that's the reality of cloud gaming.

It isn't feasible because of infrastructural and technical limitations these guys don't really understand because it's firmly out of their field of expertise. They're just hoping to commodify anything they can to turn a dime because society, globally, has pretty much run out of room for further economic growth, but the nature of the economic system demands infinite growth. Cloud gaming, AI powered railway carts, Juicero, groundscrapers, these are all just techbros trying to commodify basic shit by creating a problem that shouldn't exist and then selling the solution to you.

All fucking techbros must fucking hang, and we need to do it before they invent trains for the Nth time.

>>730862739
it doesn't matter if AMD competes or not. people will still buy nvidia even when it makes no sense for them.
for past generations there was essentially no reason to buy slower nvidia cards with less VRAM in the midrange and AMD still sells less GPUs there. for most people, there is no reason to buy nvidia over 9070 and 9060, and they still do, and pay a premium.

if AMD came out if card that has identical performance to 5090 and it was 10% cheaper, nvidia would still outsell AMD 9:1. as the saying goes, people don't want AMD to compete to buy a good AMD card, they want AMD to compete to buy a cheaper nvidia card.

LOL. They replaced immaculate physical blurays with "4K" streaming services that look like DVDs and people ate it up. CDs died to be replaced by first gen music services that were pushing 128kbps MP3s that sounded worse than casettes and people ate it up. 99% of people have no standards, and the removal of an upfront large price tag for an "oh so tiny in comparison monthly fee" is all that's needed. No more $1200 GPU little Timmy, just $50 a month, so much more affordable.

Streaming is an objective downgrade to physical media, didn't stop normalfags from eating it up, especially after studios started to not produce physical options. It's harrowing to think that I may have to keep this already six year old machine, intact for another six years. Good thing I like old games and indie games, I guess.

We've had 8gb on cards for mere mortals since 2014 and 12 years later 8gb is still considered high end.

That memory is shared tho. Not to mention that some of it is reserved by OS. So something like 13Gb is only usable. 8GB video memory target is pretty real. Even lower usage is preferred.

Who gave Sam altman the money to hoard RAM? Use your brain, Nvidia gave him 100 billion weeks before he spent 80 billion buying that 40% of global supply. Nvidia was signalling how much they wanted to restrict RAM on GPUs for months because it's the only thing that separates gaming GPUs from its data center ones that cost 50k. They even went as far as developing a texture compression technology to try and make 8gb GPUs viable for gaming again

There are enough FABs to meet demand but they're not firing on all cylinders so they can increase the prices. They're hiding behind "we're afraid the bubble will pop and we'll have leftover stock" excuse. Maybe you should read an interview or two from time to time.
The new FABs that are being built are built because the west want to produce their own chips as to not dependent on Taiwan.
The rest of the world will "sell" Taiwan to China.
>>
>>730859463
Why don't people understand that Nvidia's gaming arm is in direct competition with their much larger, more profitable data center division? It is now in Nvidia's best interest to kill gaming GPUs as a product category and they would have already done it if they weren't worried about a bubble pop. AI companies are now incentivised to destroy the game industry because it is the only force that pushes for proliferation of powerful PC components which is in turn the biggest threat to their business model.

First of all it's viable at home yes for single player games. It is not viable for competitive games like comp fps games, mobas etc which is a majority mark met share of gaming due to normalfags. Second of all, until you can sit at a starbucks or random public space and play whatever game you want in 1440p+, max settings with 6ms cloud gaming won't be viable for mass adoption. Every company out there that works in this field has acknowledged both of these issues and we are decades away from this being possible.

Depends if you run nfp4 quants or gguf, but as always if you dont mind your card exploding best one is the 3090, then if you dont mind slow ass gens i guess you could buy an used 4060 ti 16gb, for nvfp4 you'll unfortunately have to rush towards a 5060 ti 16gb as they are next

Yes he's the stupid one when selling a 4090 basically pays for a 5090. The same thing will happen with the 5090 btw. The demand will be so high you'll probably be able to sell it for $5k which is what the 6090 will cost.

Im on an EVGA3080 12gb model.
I found some very hard to find stock on a Canadian retailer for a specifically good model of 5070ti. However it is 1229CAD and with tax its like 1400CAD
Is it worth the 35% sidegrade for that much? I already got 64gb of 6000 cl40 (yes I know) ram for 400CAD in october (and that price still feels like a fucking scam)

It depends what you will do with it, if you plan to game on the 5070 ti and generate on the 4090 i would do that but if you plan to do it the other way around and dont mind longer time waiting (the only difference between the 2 is speed as both can load the same models) then the 5060 ti 16b has the advantage of the lower power consumption and still uses the 8 pin connector (not all SKU's do though) so if you fear some burn-out 12pw connector from generating 24/7 then the 5060 ti 16gb may make more sense to you, specially if you plan to game on the 4090

Waitfags will inherit the earth. Corpo's will steal it all one day but it's still too soon. Windows 11 is being rejected, Linux is on the rise, anything with AI in it is dying a hard death and local will still be king for 5 more years AT LEAST.

Who cares? /v/ has taught me that
>modern games all look like shit
>DLSS is a scam
>framegen is a gimmick
>raytracing is both of the above
So why should I give a shit if the RTX cards are at end of life? Don't tell me that you shittalk them online but scramble to buy them in real life, anons?
>>
>GPU prices will never come down!
>Keep panic buying, keeping the prices high

All this panic buying over a measly 16gb of vram, NVIDIA are geniuses. Their 5060's were just sitting on the shelf.

>>730881006
good because you can sell it to buy a 5080 ti, bad if your 5070ti bricks itself before you can sell it
>>
Graphics cards are way too fucking large nowadays.
And I hate how some of the new cards don't fit old cases that well.
I tried installing an old gtx1070 into an antec 900 and scratched/warped the back panel notch because the measurement for the holes were just slightly off. And all the gpus are way too long nowadays, can't even fit most of them in the antec 900 tower with all drive cages pushed in.

Hate it. You have to get small form factor to do anything.

Cases are cucked too, none of the new ones that I know of support modular hotswap cages or more than 8 or 9 HDDs.

AMD has been competitive since the 6000 series just fine. You Njudean paypigs just can't help eating at the trough, no matter how much foreskin you have to cut off.

AMD have literally released far better products in the price-performance ratios and have badly undersold, Njudea controls you goyslaves, stop blaming anyone but yourself.

How about no.

use the same tech as air coolers for cpus then. gas/liquid in the pipes, pipes freeze outside the satellite, cold transfers quickly into the data centre.

Its still a completely retarded idea i know, but its not because of the cooling problem.
Its because you can't fix anything that breaks on it without spending $100million and its totally reliant on either a mini-nuclear reactor, or solar panels that get eaten alive by micro-meteorites, and wont work during the night-orbit cycle.

kek I'm so glad I didnt panic buy a 3090 in 2021 for $3000 and got a 3080Ti off an ex miner for cheap in late 2022
I'll probably aim for a cheap used 6080 or 6080Ti once the AI bubble fully bursts in a year or two
>>
>>730862941
You can always just rollback to a previous version retard
>>
If you ever want prices to fall, stop memeing each other to keep demand artificially high.

The 50 series is underwhelming as hell including the price point.

Unfortunately some games just won't work without ray tracing, and ray reconstruction to make it look right. As devs no longer know or care about older lighting tech.
So we're in a looney world where better meme tracing is needed.

>Unfortunately some games just won't work without ray tracing
Not really.
Raytracing is still just another "ultra+" setting that typically is only worth using in like 3 games.
Did a single raytracing-only game that anyone gives a fuck about even release last year?
>>
>>730886545
you won't get proper reflections anymore, unless you enable ray tracing

CP2077 is literally the only game that does it properly.
Even the other "path-traced" games like HL2 RTX and Portal RTX don't have proper reflections.
And CP2077's fucked up color grading also fucks with how it looks as a whole.
>>730887001
The sad part is, that game's from 2024.
The 2025 raytracing game was Doom the Dark Ages, a game people also didn't care about.
