I know I'm late, but I'm finally interested in trying WoW. Seems like there are eternal Classic servers, but also a new Anniversary server for Burning Crusade. I'm mainly interested in the leveling, running around, seeing the world, doing the quests.Is starting at BC a good idea? Is there anything I lose by not being at the Classic servers? Is there any "sunset" content in the leveling itself? I don't really care about raids etc. at least not initially or maybe ever.

OP, there will be a revamped classic+ in the next 1-2 years for sureit will be like season of discovery which acted like an experiment (all of wow classic content but remade so its more fun, more spells, classes, quality of life improvements)I recommend you check out season of discovery, as it already adds more shit to the open world like quests and spells, makes every class fun to solo levelphase 1 of season of discovery was locked to lvl 25, it was so fun, there was only 1 raid to prepare for, and it was like a perfect introduction to this game for whole new genbut sod was just them testing things out, classic+ will definitely happen eventually and it will be hype
I tried to play but the fucking world is just so empty because everyone bought the $60/80euro boost, mmos are truly dead i wouldn't waste my time

I prefer TBC gameplay-wise but I'd suggest trying Turtle WoW first. When I tried it a few years ago leveling areas were populated and people actually talked to each other, plus it's free so you won't get buyers remorse if you find out the game isn't for you after all. Not sure how it is today and how official Classic servers compare though.

Raids were the dollop of cream on top of a perfect slice of pie, a great addition to a great product. BC shrank the pie, and increased the cream. To do away with the analogy, BC raids are probably the most tedious in the game, with huge instances jammed full of awful mind-numbing trash. The bosses themselves are consistently good, but the raids are so bloated that a lot of non-speedrun clears would spend more time just getting to the boss than making attempts on said boss.The 10-man raids were amazing those, Kara and ZA are imo the best content WoW ever had.
