Why are zoomers so anti-piracy/emulation?
>>730865549Well due to software piracy, the industry has seen some 12 billion dollars and over 100,000 jobs lost. The attraction of piracy is due to its anonymity and the ease with which illegal copies of software can be made and distributed. However, every person who makes illegal copies is contributing to the monetary losses caused by piracy.Information really does not "want to be free." People who write the software have rights to profit from it, just as people who write books have the sole right to sell them. Copying software is depriving the rightful owners of software of hard-earned wages.Software piracy cannot be protected by the first amendment, because the first amendment does not cover illegal activities. Just as yelling "Fire!" in a crowded theater is not protected by the first amendment, neither is the distribution of illegal software. The claim that pirates have a right to make illegal copies of software because the software is buggy, or too expensive, or not frequently used by the pirate, is also flawed. Someone might think a Rolls-Royce is too expensive and not worth the money, but this doesn't give him the right to steal it. Or, the fact that you almost never watch television doesn't give you the right to steal a TV.Pirating software costs everyone. Since not as many copies of software are sold, the software manufacturers have to raise prices. This means that the legitimate users are incurring higher costs due to piracy. In short, piracy is not as "victimless" a crime as it may seem. Software developers, distributors, and, ultimately, end users, are all hurt by piracy.
>>730865549they don't know how to use a PC
>>730865609Why the fucking hell do you keep making these fucking posts you fat fucking gayass bastard shitface niggerbastard?
>why are zoomers-I wonder if you'll still say "zoomers" when they'll be like 50 year old. Zoomers are entering 30 year old territory. At this point you're thinking of youngest zoomers and Gen Alpha.
>>730865549Because zoomers are tech illiterate
>>730865609thanks FagGPT
>NintendoFanboy4Lyfe (She/They)Try to make your bait a little less obvious if you want people to give you (You)s.
>>7308655492001 zoomer here, always pirated, never contributed to any of gayben's yachts
>>730865742>>730865821At least my parents love me :)
>>730865549Low tech literacy(only higher than your grandma who can't even use dumbphones) + using corporations as surrogate parents(hence learning what's "right" and "wrong" from companies trying to maximize profit/engagement)>>730865709Ok sure, call them "young people"
>>730865609>Well due to software piracy, the industry has seen some 12 billion dollars and over 100,000 jobs lost.Good.
>>730865898More like "God I wish".But it turns out that no matter how hard I pirate, the industry goes to shit either way.
>>730865549half of what you think of as zoomers are shills, since its what shills are trained to act like.
>>730865676>they don't know how to use a PC>>730865727>Because zoomers are tech illiterateWhy is this? Shouldn't they be even better with tech than past generations with all the tech they've grown up with?
>>730866168they grew up with ipads, the ui and controls in these tings are as braindead as it gets
>>730866168>Shouldn't they be even better with tech than past generations with all the tech they've grown up with?Because they grew up with phone UI designed for drooling retards where you touch the app and it does stuff. It's not like their first experience is with computer operating systems.
>>730866168Theoretically they should, but a lifetime of only staring at phones and iPads has left them more tech illiterate than literal boomers.
>>730865549They aren't sage + kill yourself
>>730865742umm actually it came from stanford university because im not a clanker lover
>>730865549The number one user of emulators for about a decade now has been mid 20s zoomers emulating their favourite 3rd,4th, or 5th gen Pokemon games.OP and half this thread is mentally retarded. They don't know the actual age range of gen Z and they project retarded stereotypes based off 1 or 2 rage bait posts they saw. Don't reproduce your genes are not worth preserving
>Be Zoom Zoom>Want to emulate a cool old game my favorite streamer has bean playing.>Download Emulator>Download rom>Only know how to double click on the download while its still in the browsers download list>To retarded to know or learn what to do next.>Give up and buy the actual hardware and game for 1000+ $>Is now pissed of smarter people get it for free.
>>730866335>>730865727>>730866338>>730866341only applies to applecattle btwevery android kid i knew had shitton of pirated games + lucky patcher installedt. 2003 zoomer
>>730866937Somewhat true but remember that Apple effectively defined the new generation of "smart" phones, and Google has been mostly following along with Android.
>>730865549Zoomer pirate here, in my experience a lot of us simply don't know how to pirate and think of it as something difficult to do.
>>730866937>too retarded to jailbreakgood morning saar!
Zoomer born in 98. Piracy and emulation is how I played 99% of my games growing up because my pastor father knew to block porn sites, but not piracy sites. Most zoomers younger than me don't know how to use anything other than a smartphone and think its like witchcraft when I pirate a show they want to watch instead of signing up for a free trial to some streaming service.
>>730867090>>too retarded to jailbreakMost Apple users don't do that.Or Android users with root, for what's worth, not sure what you are trying to say here.
>>730867090you do know that 50% of the population is women right?you're really relying on women and faggots for your argument?not that android is any good, it should be replaced with an actual linux alternative
>>730865549Same reason they willingly self censor themselves onlinedon't want to upset the multi billion dollar companies
>>730865609Doing my part to make those numbers bigger
>>730867142>Zoomer born in 98.You're basically a millennial zoomer half breed
>>730867748Honestly true. I don't consider late 90s "zoomers" to be true gen Z. In my experience they have a lot more in common with millennials.
>>730865549I'm not though, I love piracy.t. Elder zoomer
>>730867886Basically none of the "zoomer" shit applies to the ones born before 2000. Especially not if they have older siblings who influenced them.
>>730867991Pretty much. Also depends on your birth place because purely in terms of cultural shifts, even major countries can suffer a 2-3 years delay.
>>730867886>I don't consider late 90s "zoomers" to be true gen ZAs far as I'm concerned, the main thing that makes someone a zoomer is whether or not they can remember or were alive for a time before smartphones. As a 1992 Millennial I struggle to relate to anyone that has only known a world where everyone has a smartphone, there's just something different about the people that remember what life was like before 2007
>>730865609Piracy does not cause any losses, if a company could not estimate the real size of their target audience or sell their product to that audience as the most convenient option (no, piracy is not convenient just because it is free), then that is their failing. The vast majority of pirates would have never been paying customers. No one has the "right" to profit off of their work just because they have done work unless they have a prior agreement or contract, I also would not pay someone who runs into a traffic jam to clean my car. Software piracy can be protected by the first amendment, because current copyright is unconstitutional and simply ignores the stated wording and intent in the constitution due to Supreme Court fiat (see Eldred v Ashcroft).Piracy is not theft, the closest analog would be building a Rolls-Royce or TV yourself from available parts.Pirating software is a massive benefit to everyone. Even Nintendo benefits off of piracy and emulation, no matter how much they like to whine about it due to their generally inconvenient service leading to more obvious signs of piracy.
>>730865549>"hurr durr stupid fucking zoomahs!"I'm a zoomer and I've seen more millennialcucks shilling against piracy. Been pirating since I was 9 and I don't give a shit about "haha stoopid wusshian of course you pirate". Total Millennialcuck Death.
>>730869386>I'm a zoomer and [incoherent seethe about MILLENNIALS]Every single time.
Lel
>>730865549I genuinely dont know, but its not an issue cuz paycucks make it easy for piratechads to thrive
>>730869386>I'm a zoomer and I've seen more millennialcucks shilling against piracyNo you haven't lmao
zoomers are gay/thread
>>730869386The only demographic I've ever seen that's unironically butthurt about piracy is tendies
>>730871718Because PC chads had piracy in their veins ever since, and no one wants to pirate Sony stuff nowadays. The only groups lefts are indiefags and tendies, and I say this as somebody who plays(after pirating of course) both.
>>730865549I'm a zoomer and everyone I know pirates.TBF, I'm a third worlder so pirating is in our DNA.
>>730865843this, it's millennials who are anti piracy. Nintendo fans in general are all men born in 80s it's enough proof
>>730867090>mac becoming popular againGlad to see another rise in teck illiteracy
>>730865609>costing companies moneyNo it's not. If I pirate a game 10000 times, the company doesn't go bankrupt. You're talking about theoretical loss of profit, not actual money. The people who pirate likely weren't going to buy the game in the first place, likely because they were priced out by classist pricing.>Information really does not "want to be freeYes it does, information is free when it isn't obstructed by legal abstractions. All is for all. Without intellectual property, people freely share to the benefit of all and creativity prevails. Just look to the FOSS community for example. Private property exists to protect the rich, not the poor.>Software piracy cannot be protected by the first amendment, because the first amendment does not cover illegal activities. What would even be the point in having amendments if they can just be overturned whenever a politician passes a new law? Anything can be deemed an "illegal activity".>Someone might think a Rolls-Royce is too expensive and not worth the money, but this doesn't give him the right to steal it.Yes it does. You're probably a coping rich kid. But if not, you should start an onlyfans because it's honestly quite impressive that you can fit the boot that far down your throat.
>>730865549we're not, my generation is just mind numbingly retarded and tech illiterate cause they slapped a phone in front of their eyes the second they gained consciousness
>>730865549I wished they'd shut up about pirating. >"HEY TIKTOK VIEWERS! I FOUND THIS SITE WHERE YOU CAN FIND ALL THE POKEMON ROMS YOU WANT AND AN APP THAT CAN PLAY THEM."RIP Zimm
>>730867142>28 years>zoomer
>>730867886>>730868607Yeah the millennial/zoomer division is pretty dumb, all generation lines are blurry but there's a huge difference between the early millennials and the so called "digital millennials".
>>730874583big difference is also europe/NA
>>730865549Zoomers are genuinely just as bad with tech in general as boomers were.Ive had zoomer interns who did not know how to copy paste files.Emulating must look like black magic to these people.
>>730874806As a zoomie myself this is 100% true.Trying to teach my friends actual piracy and not that fuckass website steamunlocked and the digital aids it carries was herculean
I’ll buy a game if it’s able to be easily bought, same with buying/renting a movieNothing against people who don’t though. I personally stream movies off pirated sites if it’s locked behind a streaming service or is still like $20 to rent when it’s many months old. Games I do it devs refuse to bring the price down over the years it’s out or delist it
>>730874171Zoomers started spawning in 1997
RIP
