Why were the Gen 2 starters overlooked compared to the generations prior and later?
they look like middle evolutions because they dont have enough random shit on them
Gen 2 starter designs are too boring, and I'm pretty sure Meganium single handedly brings the whole group down.
>>730868798gen 3 starters are fugly and where things started going downhill, i will die on this hill. Also they shouldve done different types instead of fire water grass every game shit was played out
>>730868798Gen 2 starters fucking sucked ass, had terrible move pools, and weren't designed to remain relevant throughout the adventure.I suspect it was a knee-jerk reaction to making the Gen 1 starters too strong/too good, honestly.
Typhlosion is literally just a copy paste of charizard's stats. How fucking lazy can you get?
Gen 2 was a lot more tied in to Gen 1 at the time, whereas Gen 3 felt like there was more of a cutoff between them.
>>730868798They're pretty understated, and they hadn't gotten any special treatment for a long time like the Kanto starters did repeatedly, or that the Hoenn starters did for Gen VI.Right now, there's nothing going for the Sinnoh starters at all, and two of the three Unova starters had some special treatment (Serperior got left out). The Kalos starters all got megas now (and Greninja got extra special treatment), whilst even the Alola starters have signature Z-moves (if that counts for anything). The Galarian starters have special Gigantamax forms, though the Paldean starters don't have anything special going on due to how the terrestialization mechanics work.Incidentally, you can tell when a starter Pokémon gets preferential treatment when they give it the hidden ability Protean. Greninja got it, Cinderace got it, Meowscarada got it, and they're all lead Pokémon in their respective anime seasons.
>>730869272Well you can forget to give it any fire type moves. To this day, its level-up learnset is nearly exclusively normal and fire type moves, aside from Gyro Ball and Rollout. You want it to learn any non-fire special moves for its high special attack stat? Get some TMs or get breeding, and even then you're limited to Extrasensory, Shadow Ball, Focus Blast, Solar Beam, and Scorching Sands.
probably because they fuckin suck, also>classic creatures>classy critterslazy bum
>>730869625Johto Typlosion only needs Eruption, non-HP reliant Fire move, and Scorching Sands. Last move slot is fillerIf you want versatility use the Hisui version instead
I could be wrong but I feel like more people, specifically zoomers, have more nostalgia for Gen 3 than Gen 2. People who have nostalgia for Gen 2 are overshadowed by people nostalgic for Gen 1, also the designs are very similar in feel due to having the same artist.
>>730873569I think this true, too. Gen 2 was the first generation that I was old enough to really appreciate, so it has a very special place in my heart, but Gen 3 felt transformative. I think the games felt easier to get into for children because there was more visual clarity and "things to do". I also think pokemon and handheld gaming had become even more mainstream and there was probably a bigger install base (at least in the US and among my peers) at the time
>>730873569gen 2, kind of by design, doesn't really have much of its own identity. even the people that love it mostly love it for what it adds to gen 1 rather than how it stands on its own merits.
>Classic Creatures>Beloved Beasts>Classy CrittersI've been a Pokémon fan for nearly 20 years and I've never once hear people call starter trios any of those.
>>730868798>Why do people liek mudkips
>>730873447johto typhlosion only needs thunder punch
>>730868798>The Rapist>The gay one>The retardTake a wild guess.
>>730879023Sir we don't post resumes here. Janitor applications are done by email.
>>730868798>Classy Critters>59% of the votesFeels good to win.
>>730868798Pokemon fans have shit taste, as usual.Typhlosion > Blastoise > Venusaur > Sceptile > Charizard > Feraligatr > Swampert > Blaziken > Meganium
