You HAVE beaten an expert game of Minesweeper, right anon?
I haven't even beaten it on very easy, kept hitting the mine on the second click
I don't even know how it works.'96er btw
Is this legal? I heard Microsoft's Minesweeper is actually illegal.
>>730872594no, defusing mines is antisemitism
>>730872594I only play real desktop games
>no microtransactions >no battle pass>no bin laden skin>no dedicated launcherdiddyGPT aahhhhhhh game
>>730872594Yeah but Minesweeper gets old pretty quickly. I don't like how the randomness is back-loaded, i.e. you get reasonably far into a puzzle and then you can lose the run to a forced guess anyways. Pretty blue-balling.
haven't played in 15 years. 2nd clear
I used to play it a bunch at work. Clears commonly coming down to a true 50/50 guess is kind of gay.
>>730872594Yeah, when I was like 12. Are you seriously gloating about this shit as a grown ass man?
>>730872594yeah, I got lucky a couple of times
>>730872594Of course I have. But I much prefer playing on clients which implement no-guess mode instead of the Microslop official Minesweeper.
>>730872594Have you beaten Mamono Sweeper on HUGE x BLIND?
>>730872594I got to the point where I could clear it super easily if I took my time so I started instead going for time. My best go was 98 sec expert clear. Getting below the 100 mark was so difficult. The trick was to just guess right away at the truly 50/50 spots if they appear rather than waste any further time on the run prolonging the guess.
>five different 50/50 chances
>>730878602This is only two 50/50s. But yeah, getting to the end just to have a 75% chance of losing anyways feels bad.
>>730879213Such is life in the Zone.
>>730878602this is why i hate minesweeper. After a while it literally becomes just gambling on random 50/50s. No skill at all.
Fuck this game
There are versions of this game where if you have the appropriate amount of flags around a number, and then you click on the number, it will auto-click the other squares. That's my preferred version of things.
>>730879350That one. That's always a mine.Work from there.
>>730879350You still have a safe move here
Fuck yeah. All it takes is "no 50/50s.">>730879535Yeah, those are by far the best versions just because misclicks are less likely.
>>730879350The 1-2-1 split wall is a classic two free mine locations.
>>730879630>>730879693>>730879927I don't believe you
>>730879812all it takes is winning every 50/50
>>730880083That's fine. We need dedicated minimum wage workers like you or else society would be less convenient (but still perfectly functional).
>>730880083No that guy's definitely right.>>730879927Think about it. If the two mines are right next to each other, that would make one of the 1s a lie.So they have to be split. There's quite a few not-as-obvious math tricks like this which make things seem like guesses when they aren't.
>>7308800831-2 is a pretty common pattern so you should note it. The 2 has 3 possible squares, 2 of which are covered by the 1. So the last square must have a mine, and you know that the 1's mine must be shared by the 2 and any other squares are safe. A 1-2-1 pattern is just two separate 1-2s that overlap.
>>730880083i tried >>730879630 and died so don't trust himthis >>730879927 actually works
This site's Minesweeper games never have 50/50 guesswork moments. Someone shared it in a thread a while back and it's what I've been using ever since.>https://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/puzzles/js/mines.html
>>730880425the no 50/50 minesweepers are kind of boring to play since the logic required is usually quite simple the whole way through. While it sucks to get to the end and have to guess actually getting there is more fun on the random variants.
>>730880425>>730880727Classic Minesweeper is the goat but no-5050 Minesweeper is better for speedruns. You train your brain to see the logic and how quickly you can click every square with 100% confidence. You don't even need to mark mines anymore eventually.
>>730879350Here anon.
You gotta be shitting me
>>730879535Microsoft Minesweeper does this. You double click.
This is bullshit
>>730881457Left of the 4 is the safest spot, I believe. There's only one mine arrangement possible that can screw you over for that one, while other arrangements are possible in the other cases.
Any other 50/50 games?
>>730881282The trick with regular minesweeper is to get rid of the 50-50s right after you confirm they're one so you don't "waste" time with the rest of the board only to die at the end like you did there.
>>730872594Of course, who hasn't?
>>730880425That site is fantastic. There's an Android port with all the games. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=name.boyle.chris.sgtpuzzles
>>730882809Quite the opposite, I maximized my odds by stalling. I just got unlucky
>>730880915>no-5050 Minesweeper is better for speedruns. Not really. After you've perfected your logic AND maxed your thinking AND clicking speeds to what is humanly possible, the only other way to improve your timings is ironically to start gambling and making guesses, trading your win/death ratio for faster clears. This is where your ability to calculate the mine probabilities come in, i.e. if you see something low like 1/8 you should take the risk. Obviously there's a risk of hitting a mine and dying, so if you jump at every 50-50 scenario you'd be dying for decades before you get that one lucky game, so it's good to establish a risk threshold you're comfortable with first, like <1/5 is quite reasonable.
>>730872594i lost at the last tile because it was a 50/50 :(
>>730872594huh? was it supposed to be hard?
