>>730876430The really big thing that normal upgrade packs do (turning the game into 60 FPS or uncapped frames) doesn't exist in this version of the game.Basically the bulk of the update is the 3.0 update and the NS2 upgrade pack is only for people with 4k/1440p monitors since you get better resolution. Also load times are faster, but the main attraction is if you want to be a part of 12-person multiplayer sessions or not. I bought it for that since the actual upgrade wasn't expensive, but I have my doubts due to how popular discussion has been here as to whether or not I'll be able to use it. Also mouse controls for decorating sound appealing enough for me to try it out.

(mostly opinion but the designs are really noticeably flat)the biggest though are the villagers, nook upgrades, seeded items, and the breaking items. I can ignore stuff like removing girls running animations proper so trans or w/e can feel validated, or removing the gender option, i can let that slide if the game just HAD SOME FUCKING DEPTH. The core tenants of the game we have are good, reconstructing your island via terraforming and digging and placing stuff is good. But there's no depth like you'd have in something like terraria, minecraft or games like them because its limited to a shitty grid. Here's the biggest key thing. The rest of the game has to be animal crossing to compliment the new features. They RESTRICTED THE ANIMAL CROSSING FEATURES to be built around the dollhouse terraforming game. They're doing it BACKWARDS.

Whenever I've been at the hotel, even if I just enter and exit it right away, I get noticeable slowdown on my island that persists until I enter and exit any other building. On Switch 1 by the way.

They made it way too "feature-heavy" and way too much about doing exactly what the player prefers, when part of what made Animal Crossing good was its Tamagotchi element. Tamagotchi is the little pocket console you could buy in the past where there's a cute animal that "lives inside it", and you turned it on and off to check in on it. Animal Crossing was almost entirely about the fantasy of having a village on your Gamecube or DS that lived when you're not playing, and you "log in" to check on it.With New Horizons in particular, they transfered way too much decisionmaking over to the player, and prevent most things in the town from moving autonomously when you're not looking. Villagers will not move while you're not playing. They will only move after explicity asking the player if it's okay to move.But part of the series was always "Oh I fell off and haven't touched it in months... let me check how bad it looks... Oh it's really bad." but then you cleaned up and met the new neighbours and also found some bottles at the beach and read the bulletin board, and your inbox of bank mail.That was part of the charm of the series, and that's all gone, and you can just resculpt your entire town in an editor tool. That was something we did with save-editing in the past, and it was a choice of "do I wanna break the internal rules of the game, yes I do."I don't like that being normalized as a feature of the series.
