There isn’t really a point to downloading modpacks imo. Even the best Skyrim mods are amateurish at best with minimal QnA and debugging.
The draw of Skyrim modding is getting to hand-select all of the mods in your game and tailoring a personal experience. It turns it into something that is greater than the sum of its parts, but only for you and your sensibilities.
I built a modlist specifically for me that appeals to me but probably not a lot of other people. I wanted a very grindy JRPG with lots of Japanese-voiced companions, and I also wanted the game to have lots of unique weapons and armors scattered around the map for me to track down and loot in my quest to be a great anime Viking warrior dude.

I do not use modlists, because I hate how dumb some of them are. Maybe I have bad luck, but the few times I tried one, it was packed with unnecessary stuff. Like 20 GB of plant textures you probably do not care about either. Or they give every NPC a unique name, so you cannot tell important ones from irrelevant ones. Or they remove your compass for immersion, which makes every quest a nightmare because most of them were designed with a compass in mind. And no you can't remove them because that will break everything else.

I tried two modelists before I gave up and started to mod it the main problem with'em is they are patched to hell so any sort of fiddling causes all sorts of issues since you don't know what the fuck is conflicting with what. If you do choose to go down the modlist route make sure the core of the game you want to play is there. Everyones Skyrim is very different.

I'd only use the random start one if I could get away with it, but I think it broke at some point
also, whatever lets me not crash in the soul cairn. Had to download a big-ass patch for that one when I would have preferred a targeted fix at the time.

If the quest involved you being able to ask every bard in every inn until finding Lynly, the shock of her looking nothing like she was described would be effective because players would realize "oh shit right, she changed her appearance". Unfortunately even Bloodlines' Unofficial Patch has suffered the same issue, where the separate version meant to only have bug fixes has a bunch of unnecessary changes forced into it. Not as bad as Skyrim, mostly small things like textures on buildings, what song plays on the beach, where the dinosaur is, but it's still over the line when most people only use the patch because it's impossible to run the game on normal computers without it. Unless you use Lurk's Speedrunner patch, that's a pure vanilla fix that only disables the copyright protection and makes the exe large address aware. Too bad nobody's ever heard of it.
