never paid attention to the Tales games but the combat looks fun. how do you rate the combat n thsi series?

It's shit. The idea behind Tales was making a combat system where RPGs play like a fighting game but all it led to was a half assed fighting system with half assed RPGs awkwardly married.


The early 3D games like Tales of Symphonia are probably the best ones because they lean more into the RPG side but it's at best functional.

Midlife Tales games have a lot of influence from Anime Fighting Games but ultimately enemies are either punching bags to practice combos or SNK bosses with no in between.

Earlier tales games are very basic bitch, and most recent batch tries to be somehow worse modern Ys.
