What Modern-ish songs could they even use?

Good god please no they're going to fuck it up somehow let it stay dead
>>
>>730881092
Considering the popularity of the format with weebs (osu) they probably should capitalize on that
>>
>>730881715
Osufags don’t get the SOVL of OTO and EBA, they just like jacking each other off over having better “clickcircles” skill. Fuck ‘em.
>>
>>730881337
Huh? The point isn't to use modern songs. Just popular classics. You think fucking ABC by the Jackson Five in 1970 was contemporary to when EBA released?
>>
I can think of a few songs that would fit EBA2
Problem is they'll just put stupid shit like lady gaga on it
>>
>>730881851
EBA with songs from the early 2000's would fuck
>>
>>730881851
EBA did have a pretty good mix between classics and modern tracks (for its time) like Sk8er Boi, Makes No Difference, Walkie Talkie Man etc.
>>
>>730881997
Because I grew up during this time that sounds so fucking ridiculous to call those songs modern around the release of EBA. I mean, I guess it was only a few years apart but holy shit that sounds wrong.

Yes, there was clearly a focus on contemporary music. You gonna try to argue that Ashlee Simpson wasn't modern at the time? Maybe a new EBA wouldn't NEED modern music, but it would still be a sad reminder of how far popular music has plummeted that there aren't even any good contenders now.

How hard can these games be to make, really?

Just release ONE game and keep updating it with new tracks over time. This isn't 2006.

I always thought the reason they stopped making these games was genuinely because Osu! was basically the perfect version of them. They couldn't compete with a freeware, community-driven clone at the time and probably still can't today.
>>
>>730888307
if there has ever been a better comparison of "soul/soulless" than EBA/Osu then I haven't seen it
>>
>>730888560
What does that make the original Ouendan games?
>>
>>730886167
>>730888307
>Online service game with updates
>implying that works to keep it relevant
It doesn't even work with most of those games even unless you're one of the handful that pull it off. Let alone for something that relies on "community" work because that kills the quality standard all across. Osu/EBA hasn't got a new release because niche audience and that lovely thing called music licenses.
>>
>>730888597
EBA had its own soul. Some of the stories were based on Ouendan's stories, like the ending of Ouendan 2 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZLkrqRVSO3E), but it still had its own style.
>>
>>730881937
Lady Gaga is good though.
They should also put Beyonce and Britney in

There just needs to be a good mix of music genres. Even the most inane songs had some series hype behind them when you were actually playing them in EBA. Just make sure there's variety.

I love the game
Having to play Believe and fucking MATERIAL GIRLS drove me up a wall. I fucking hate those songs.

With Nintendo's stock in the shitter, it wouldn't surprise me if all we got were creative commons songs due to the lack of budget. Expect things like "The Star Spangled Banner" and "Yankee Doodle Boy" and not anything recent.
>>
>>730892641
You're not as enlightened about music as you think you are

This is the hell that we live in. The trash my sister listened to all those years ago is now considered gold compared to the niggershit we have nowadays. Fuck life as it is

>>

What amazing and great music do (you) listen to?
>>
>>730893027
The music you like doesn't mean it should it be part of the context. Western music collapsed, you only have legendary hits to rely on an early 00s era killed those
>>
>>730888307
>the reason they stopped making these games
..is because they started making karaoke games for Microsoft and just rolled into iOS hell after that.
>>
>>730893230
EBA is the localization western appealing version of Ouendan.
>>
>>730893336
I thought INIS was a nintendo centric AA studio.
>>
I'm pretty ignorant about pop music but I like to see what makes the cut internationally outside of America that then gets put into a game made for Americans. Smooth or Livin La Vida Loca would probably make great tracks.
>>
all three of these games are straight up some of my favorite of all time and i could not give less of a fuck about osu

I especially see Everywhere working for some kind of exploration/adventurer scenario similar to YMCA in EBA or the Momotaro mission in Moero.
>>
>>730881092
That last song was brutal
>>
>>730893552
Pop music as a whole you have to assume it as bad because pop is basically owned and absorbed as the mainstream. Beyond that you only need to put someone with good taste or love for music in charge, like the original Guitar Hero devs were.

In the case of EBA/Ouendan the music is secondary; it's all above the vibe and the scenario that is played in the track. This is why chasing trends like going for well known staples barely work in here and for EBA they went for only 1 or 2 old time classics and mostly stayed in mid range music; good or well known artist with a strong song that is just not to recent or straight up legendary status.

>Smooth
Damn good choice.
>>
>>730893552
>Smooth
It's wild how well Carlos Santana and Rob Thomas work together, and yet their only real collabs are that and this cover song.

When I was younger I overpaid for 2 at a convention because I didn't know better and I was a huge fan of EBA. Last year I went to Japan and finally bought the first one dirt cheap. I've still only played 2 so far but the music is a banger.

>How does it feel to have lived long enough to watch all your favorite game series decline or disappear
Elite Beat Agents, DJ Hero, Duke Nukem, TimeSplitters, Golden Sun, Banjo Kazooie, Final Fantasy

The last crumb of hope I had for EBA was when they appeared in Smash Bros Brawl... as a fucking Sticker.
>>
>>730894702
the band with a pork with diphtheria in vocals was a lowkey great choice, really sold the hype in unity by the end.

>>730893854
The second half of the final osu 2 game is the really brutal one

>those shapes of 12 quick taps and slides in succession
>all punishing
>all small iconsize even
