The rain was doing its usual routine - falling in the night, washing nothing clean. The board was still dirty.I was on a case.Looking for a mystery game - a real one. The kind that keeps its mouth shut and makes you earn every answer the hard way.No hand-holding. No mercy. I wanted lying witnesses, crooked clues, and a final reveal that hits like a cheap punch in a dark alley.Something that makes you ask the questions...and regret hearing the answers.I crushed the cigarette./v/ didn't care. But the case was still open.
>>730881581The real detective game is finding those games anon, didn't you just ask for no hand holding?
>>730881581Hear me out.Detective PvP. Detective MMO.

>>730883796Anon that's a goat
>>730881581this kind of writing is fucking ancient by now all what you gonna get these day are: >ESL writing >Californian writing >Japanese writing "enhanced" by localizers
ya aint got nothin on me, janny! my IP is clean, i aint post that /pol/bait thread! i was gooning on /gif/ at the time. my freshly wet crusty socks prove it!
Should I buy No one Wants to Die? Is it worth 5 dollars and my precious, precious time
anyone try out cassette boy? the perspective stuff looks neat, but I'm not sure if it's a full puzzle game or an adventure game with the occasional rock pushing
>Detective Fest>first game advertised is fucking Blue PrinceInsane. Anyway, has anyone played Scene Investigators? I really enjoyed Painscreek Killing and it's the dev's newest game.
It's a shame how ass Rise of the Golden Idol was compared to the pure kino of the first game.
>>730885107I thought it was a fine sequel. Comparing base games, it is unfortunate that Rise covers a shorter time span with less wide reaching consequences of the cult's actions, but the actions they do take remain interesting. Both have greed and the desire for a new world order warring with each other and ultimately being defeated by a bumbling retard. As for DLC I'd say Rise ekes Case out, Sins of New Wells in particular was great.
>>730885764I didn't realize there was so much DLC out for the new game, so I guess I'll have to check that out. Curse's DLC was fine, but I didn't like how both were about savage mud people.
The only decent detective game ever made was L.A. Noire, everything is a glorified visual novel.
I hope The Roottrees Are Dead sold well. The game was too good to be free to play on some .io site. I preferred the AI shit to the hand drawn stuff in most cases, but I know trannies absolutely lose their minds if they catch a whiff of AI. Roottreemania was okay. IIRC, it was much harder than the base game.
Is there a good place for detective/logical puzzle games? Thinking about a site, blog etc.
>>730887047These threads and Leddit are probably the only places. Seems like a fairly niche genre. For example, Return of the Obra Dinn is one of the best games released in the past decade, but I don't think it sold anywhere near Papers. Please.
>>730881581>>730884646Lets say I'm writing a game in this style right now, what are your favorite aspects of the genre? Can be anything, prose examples, mechanics, whatever.
>>730881581This is such a weird sale. How many detective games can you even name?
pumb
>>730885047>Scene InvestigatorsYeah I played it closer to when it came out. It isn't bad but it felt under-baked. Wish it were better because I like the premise a lot. But it was mediocre at best for me
Threadly reminder that you should try golden idol games even if the artstyle is putrid dogshit, theyre really good
>>730881581Shadows of Doubt had potential...
>>730893748they just released modding tools so hopefully we get something good

>>730893748I enjoyed it for a while, will reinstall in few monthsInterrogator 2 and Verbal Verdict go for the AI angle, both demos were solid

What am I in for?
>gay lesbian awardthat's it. it's off the wishlist. It was too pricy for a browser game anyway and they actually made the artwork worse than using stock images, somehow, amazingly. AI doesn't usually look that awful.
need some femslut detective protagonist games where I solve crimes but also I have a vagina is there anything like that. but like she can't be ugly. don't suggest the one with the ugly woman.
any games that use procedural generation/AI to keep things interesting even after 6767 hours? shadows of doubt is okay because it has a good foundation but the game has a lot of other issues
>>730892747The sequel has been harder and less exciting to me. I think the scheming of colonialism is more interesting than companies using mind control.
>>730883431Why are the mods so gay? The last thread was good and about the game
>>730885047it's very different from painscreek, and inferior but still worth playingcases are uneven
