It feels like a disgusting monstrosity of a game designed for zoomers who like speed running through everything. After all that's how the game is designed* to be played. It's this tiring guessing game of moving up and down the 3 day timeline that is so not* charming in any way whatsoever. I like to take my time with Zelda games and slow walk around, take in the scenery. Majors Mask? Fuck no turn in to goron link and speedblitz your way through everything as fast as possible. Clocks ticking oh wait you have to return to the 2nd, no 1st day to progress that area. Yeesh what a fucking failure in game design. I still remember the sick feeling I got when I realized I had to beat the goron area boss a second time because I didnt solve the interim area puzzle in time. World progression? There is none, "save" each area only to see it revert back to the way it was on day when you have to progress. So fucking unsatisfying to cleanse the swamp or melt the snows only to see be undone, what a horribly unrewarding gameplay system. Actually fuck this game it is and will always be the worst Zelda no contest. OoT is fine, but Twilight Princess will always be King.

In other games it's too obvious which content is main content and which is side content because they tell you exactly where to go, what to do, and who to talk to. They're the only genre of game left where "Okay, so what the hell do I do next" is an explicit part of the design. Sometimes I just like wandering around and trying to figure out stuff for myself. Open world can work when it isn't so damn empty, Elden ring is the only open world game that I felt satisfied to explore, and even that had some bare patches.
