Spirit has cooldowns while gun doesn't.There's a kind of rock-paper-scissors element to the game where Green (tanks) can survive the burst from Purple (casters/assassins), while Orange (shooters) can deal the consistent damage needed to kill Green, but Orange lacks the survivability to handle Purple. You don't want only one damage type on your team. If everyone else is going gun, you should try to go spirit, and vice versa, and you want at least someone holding the front line.Another thing is that you should build at least 4800 souls worth of items in each color, because the more of one color you invest in the less bonus stats you get from it, and all bonuses peak at 4800.Every time you buy an item that's tier 3 or more (3200 souls or more), or when you first level your ult, or when you max out an ability, you have a power spike which you should try to take advantage of.All of this on top of the fact that depending on the character you play, the situation may demand faster uptime on your abilities (so buy cooldown reduction), or instead it might demand crowd control or more mobility or tankiness. No walkers means limited slots, but frankly I just pick one of the community builds and turn on auto-build.
