But I keep seeing conflicting opinions on the best game to start with. Some say to go in release order starting with the original NES game, other common starting points I see are Super Castlevania 4, Rondo of Blood, or Symphony of the Night.
Castlevania 1 is the most chad game of all time, thia is how boya become men.
Understand the older Castelvanias do not play like the modern Castelvanias.
Castlevania 1
just play 1, its really good
Castlevania 1 takes like an hour to beat. All the pre-SotN entries are very short.

>>730894563If you don't have the patience for old style Nintendo-hard games, just play symphony. It still has a weird learning curve at first but it feels really good to play after you get used to it. From there just branch out and play whatever you want to see.
>>730894563'best' is going to be personal taste, don't even bother listening to other opinions. start at the beginning, play all you can. use save states, nobody really gives a fuck and there are quite a few pure aids moments.
>>730894563What are you looking for? What kind of games do you enjoy, generally?Castlevania 1 is a good starting point, it has decent difficulty and a handful of bullshit parts, but nothing that makes it not worth playing. The game is very good, the soundtrack is great, the visuals are good.Super Castlevania IV is a good starting point too, it's on the easier side, but everything is so good in it, visuals, music, controls, everything is just on point. Those two are, however, on the "Classicvania" side.If you want a Metroid-like Castlevania, a Metroidvania, then SotN and Aria of Sorrow are both great to start. Both are mostly easy, both have good visuals and good music. You can just pick any you want, the story doesn't really matter, it's almost always just>le bad guy is le up to no goodexcept that you might wanna play Aria of Sorrow before Dawn of Sorrow.
