I upgraded my 1050ti to a 3060 12 gig a couple of years ago. I'd suggest either a 5060 if you have the $300 for it or this 1660ti if you're a total poorfag.

AI is actively ruining the internet and society and will probably cause a societal collapse
>Is abused by a significant percentage of school children; denying them a proper chance to develop their critical thinking and writing skills and ultimately leading to a generation of retards who can't think for themselves and rely on AI
>Is used by jeets and SEAmonkeys to pollute the internet with garbage that is objectively rotting the minds of our youngest people, setting them up in life with fried dopamine receptors
>Will ultimately usher us into an era where we won't be able to tell what is real and what is not
>Genuine videos of politicians and the elite fucking kids will be dismissed as AI generate and whistleblowers will be accused and charged with generating AI child porn
>Dissenters of the state will be framed with AI videos of them fucking kids
>Will be used by world governments and corporations to generate footage of war crimes and terrorist attacks that will be used to influence military action
>Will eventually be deemed necessary to supervise the internet for wrong think in every corner of the web

Thanks. I've never considered it worthwhile to push past 1080p, especially now that GPU prices are so insane. $500 is the most I could justify spending, which is more than enough for the resolution (5060ti or 9060XT, both 16 gig).

I bought a 5070 Ti for 700€ 6 months ago and I played zero (0) games on it.
I can't believe I spent my last prime years of gaming waitfagging with an ancient GPU and then I bought a new one right after I lost all interest in gaming. I have so many games on my backlock that I desperately wanted to play but didn't, and now I don't even have enough interests to look them up on steam let alone play them. I genuinely have more fun making spreadsheets in Excel or writing emails. How did this happen? It feels like yesterday that I was a teen frying my brain on Titanfall and now I am an old man who likes Excel. This shouldn't have happened.

I was fortunate to where I stopped caring about newer games (because they're bloated and blurry as fuck even with DLSS4's transformer model), but the GPU upgrade still benefit my productivity workflows (Maya/Blender/).

>>730900990
Yah, like what game do you need to play that requires an RTXX 8000706?

Cyberpunk works fine on my 3060 and I dont see myself playing anything much more demanding than that.

Also, I just play medieval 2 mods 90% of the time anyways.
>>
>>730921908
I will say, Cyberpunk's path tracing mode made me wish more games supported the thing. Shit feels less like a constant reminder that it's a video game when I'm seeing light sources bleed through walls, or shadows being cast that aren't quite correct (eg. as if they're floating an inch off the ground).

I feel kinda sad that I don't care about new games. I was watching a video earlier of something like 100 games coming out this year. very easily, 60-80fps 1080p High Settings

I'm not sure exactly where it caps out in terms of new games it can't play. I know it can't handle FF7 Remake but who gives a shit.
>>
>>730922180
You get that in full effect with the game's default TAA implementation. Transformer model addresses 95% of it, and I've yet to try the new one that's in beta.

Ideally devs would stop with the temporal slop in the first place, but that's been inplace long before the RT push.
>>
>>730900615
Back in March 2025, I went to micro center and waited in line for a possible shipment of 9070xt. I was like 10th in line and, by some miracle, the shipment that came in had like 20 5090s. I couldn't pass up a chance to get a 5090 Astral; $3300 post tax at the time.
Afterwards, I thought about it and I was kind of ashamed I wasted so much money on the GPU. I was also scared to try to sell it on discord/craigslist/inperson shit. Too many thieves.
Looking back....should I have kept it?

>massively inflates the price of computer hardware

>all services from data storage to netflix rise as access to compute has to compete with AI

we are basically experiencing the early stages of a tech Weimar, people will no longer own PCs. AI geniuses didn't figure out who will use their products when nobody can afford that shit anymore
>>
>>730922395
The ultra-long-term goal of these Techno Feudalists is a world where the average citizen has maybe one smart device, a very rudimentary one, that can access data servers and cloud services on a rental-service basis for their "daily needs"
YOU don't need to be able to run high-end games natively. YOU don't need to be rendering AI yourself. That's dangerous. Only the Tech Aristocracy should be trusted to have access to this near-magical technology. The Hobbits cannot be allowed to know the secrets of Dark Elven sorcery.

The bubble is going to pop soon unless we see an actual massive use case for AI. Companies WANT AI to improve productivity, but it's just not. They're firing people, and sitting there, looking at ChatGPT, and basically saying, "make us more profitable, please." It's a technology built on the hopes and dreams of raping the lower class, which is why there's so much investment.
>>
>>730900615
What if they make ai and ai makes software that makes even the worst computer be able to run some powerful games?
>>
>>730923959
Yeah, that's their goal. AI generated slop games. Shitvidia is spending billions upon billions of developing an AI that will emulate physics. It works for both their robotics, but also can be extended to companies or game engine creators as a way to make their engines "more efficient". Imagine, why calculate actual physics or lighting, when an AI can hallucinate it? Just cache and stream, let the players scream. Amazing. Sugoi even! Everybody can get ATX 8090 performance at a fraction of the cost! "Real frames" they're all fake anyways mouth breathers!
>>
>>730923396
seriously?
>>
Isn't this the ultimate panacea for gaming? Will developers stop chasing graphics and start making interesting games?
>>
>>730923419
They're creating the case. They're literally creating problems so they can offer AI as a solution. It's the only way to climb out of the extreme debt they all took on a retarded gamble. Trying to make the public organically dependent on AI backfired, so now this is where we are at. AI companions will definitely become a thing, they'll try to remarket the term PC from personal computer to personal companion, meant to exploit lonely people with disposable income. They'll integrate it into your OS, and I mean really integrate it, not this tiptoe bullshit that CoPilot is. We're talking LLM used to search in Windows Explorer, ads spammed on your desktop because of the AI constantly harvesting ALL data you put on your computer or browsers. Data centers? Produce jobs for a year, then promptly fire everything, keeping a skeleton crew, while draining the strained water resources and electric grid of the states they're leeching off of. There's jobs to be made there! Fucking final stage of the jewpocalypse and everyone is fucking asleep. WHY DOES NOBODY CARE

You should look into the shady shit that went on in Ohio to oust the Lt. Governor so he couldn't run for Governor, to clear the way for Vivek Ramaswamy so he can drain the state dry building data centers there. It's happening in my state right now. They're "unanimously approving" projects that will literally fuck all of us over. We live in a desert. The data centers are going to drain our already strained water supply. Our electric companies already boosted our rates last year. In the summer I had an average hill of 500 dollar and peaked at 600. This was while being conservative. The fucks already confirmed they are going to bump our prices 35% more this year. The data centers they're building here DON'T EVEN BRING JOBS TO THE RESIDENTS. They literally just bring in people from overseas or do contract work. It's so fucking dystopian. It's like every one has seen the writing on the wall and has decided that if nobody gives a fuck, then why should they? Leave the problem for someone else to figure out. We are so beyond fucked and people don't even realize it yet.

>>
>>730925135
Something like DLSS 4 basically take 2 of your frames, divides them, then chugs it down with optical data and shits out a frame. Much easier than generating futa cock since image generation happens through denoising. They start with a literal canvas of noise then have to do calculations to decide how to make that girth cock appealing to you. Much more intensive and complex of a problem than looking at frames and data that already exist and guessing what fits between them.
>>
>>730925135
Because the porn is created from nothing but a bunch of static and the machine needs to make that static huge boobs, while the fake frames are created from a previous image or some shit.

hopefully generating futa will take less than a second some day
>>
>>730907381
Honestly, I'm not sure if AI will ever get good enough to make some kind of gene bomb but everything else is pretty valid here.
Kids are seriously having their brains warped by cheating with AI at school, its so easy to do and requires no effort and also make no attempt to teach the children about any of the garbage they copy-paste in.
I know people have always cheated at all levels of academia, but AI is so brainless and non-interactive about it. You don't even need to skim the text or question it, just type in what you want and it will vaguely spit out words that look good enough, at least with old cheating/copying you had to change most of the words and find a decent site slightly down the search results if you wanted to be safer about it. AI will just generate a semi-unique block of text so you never have to even ponder the words.

Very crushing times, I'm glad that video games don't need more than 6gb of vram and that all of the current GPU options are powerful enough to absolutely slaughter any game thats actually good and graphicsslop.

Then again, if one were to boughted a 5090, you most likely won't need a new PC ever again, or at least until 20 years from now (assuming no hardware problems like the card frying itself).

You future-proof more than ever before, because no developer will ever require more than this and subsequent gens will be only miniscule % better
>>
>>730926605
yeah if you got a 5090 you're set for basically forever

>blaming the tech but not the greedy kikes who abuse it
You sound like the goodest of goym.
>>
4080 Super or 7900 XTX?
>>
>>730926515
They only increased the price of their RAM modules $10 last I looked.
>>
>>730926713
9070XT
>>
>>730926450
You call it fast, but it's still too slow for what it does to your input delay.

>>730926713
How much do FSR3 artifacts bother you? If the answer is "not much", then 7900 XTX.
>>
>devs cant tell you to upgrade your PC anymore as an excuse for their shit optimization
>every poorly optimized game will just get shit on relentlessly like MHWilds
we're finally free
>>
>>730926605
Bro all they do is lock the new releases behind new cards

You’re the type that really believes Borderlands 4 can’t run without a fucking a brand new card, when it looks shittier than 2
>>
anybody try DLSS 4.5 yet?
>>
>>730926795
Borderlands 4 is a bad example because you'd have to pay me a very lucrative hourly sum in order to force me to play it

There will be outliers but badly optimized games will start getting shit on way more and sell way less.

I have a GTX 1080, the ONLY reason why I consider upgrading to a 5090 is because I want to be VR ready/have a workstation on top of it and play some games that require RTX (like FF7 Rebirth).

Other than that RTX filter, I think I'll be set for a very long time after that.

I'm simply not paying 3000 dollars for a graphics card
sorry

same ngl i hate the game industry as a whole, bunch of wankers
some games are ok

I'm comforted that there are so many still using the GTX 1080
I thought I had been left behind

I was on a 1060 until last week. If I had a 1080 I'd probably have stuck with it, but 6gb VRAM was becoming insufferable where games looked two gens behind on anything but high texture settings, because no one authors textures properly anymore.

HAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAH

if things really cap out you'll find people wishing they had a 1060
I have a 1050ti sealed in the box and I'm hoarding it like viking gold now
>>
>>730913263
They were selling more gaming GPUs than ever before. It's not their fault that some retard bought up 40% of the global RAM supply, fucking everything up.
>>
>>730904964
>>730906815
I'm sure AMD is magically immune from the RAM shortages that are causing Nvidia to pull back those cards.
Retards.
>>
>>730922960
The reason for using 4.5 is that it looks better. Also I'd be surprised if you're getting a 20% hit on that card.
>>
>>730934685
it depends on the game. on average its 15% across multiple games according to benchmarks
>>
>>730901287
pretty much all of that in dark green is government money. When they say investors are driving it, what they mean is investors are taking massive loans to drive up datacenter construction and trading that debt between several other AI companies to drive reported revenue.

But in the end, it's all debt. they aren't any more profitable than they were 10 years ago. As long as no one calls it, it's fine.

>ultimately leading to a generation of retards who can't think for themselves and rely on AI
That's the goal tough.

>AI killed video games
I was playing video games using 386SX in the 90's. I've experienced some of the best games out there while I was a teen playing on my GeForce 6600.
New goyvidya card in not gaming. You can experience most of the gaming history with popato tier iGPUs nowadays.
AI haven't killed shit. It just crippled your ability to consoooom newest and the shiniest.

My 1060 had a good 8 years of hard use. Surprised it lasted that long. It'll still be my backup card if this new one dies for whatever reason. Worst case, I also have integrated graphics on this CPU as the fall-fallback, which is enough to play my old go-tos, just not ideal.
