Bad controls, bad camera, bad level variety, overly linear, padded to hell and back paired with being rushed, does it have any redeeming quality?
>>
The fact of the matter is every 3d Mario just sucks. Rare's platformers on the N64 were bigly superior.
>>
>>730902057
Mario 3D World is good, because it's 2D

music
>>
>>730901932
I wanted to like it because i like the setting
>>
>>730901932
The water looks nice.
>>
>>730901932
why did they invert the fludd aiming with no way to change it? Glad I sold this piece of crap for profit.
>>
>>730901932
the redeeming quality is that literally all of that is wrong and its simply the best 3d mario.
>>
>>730901932
The great zoomer filter.
>>
how many times are you going to make this thread you fag
>>
>>730903524
haha holy shit
NO FUCKING WONDER its unpopular

way back in before you were born, microsoft deliberately made 3d controls backwards in halo, because fuck you, I guess?
everyone got used to it and now its the industry standard
every other control method in the universe uses the airplane standard
it didn't even pop into my mind that sunshine mario fludd is 'correct' since that's the way I normally control games
>>
>bad controls
More responsive and has more movement options then 64. In 64 Mario takes forever to go from a stop to a run or to turn while running. in Sunshine he goes from a stop to full speed fast without it being hard to control and turns on a dime. You lose the long jump and punch, but gain fludd, the spin jump, and dive.

>Bad camera
No worse then 64's

>Bad level variety
It's got far more varied level design then in 64, where pretty much every stage is a linear path either overtly (like ticktock clock etc) or just through a mostly otherwise empty open space (Bomb-omb battlefield etc)

>Overly Linear
I refuse to believe all the people who whine about not being able to do shine missions out of order actually care that much about it. How often did you really load into a specific star mission in 64 to do a different star from that intended one, really?

>Padded
How is it any more padded then 64?

>Redeeming qualities
Beyond what I just mentioned it also obviously looks nicer then 64, has a better soundtrack IMO, and the levels have a better sense of place as real locations

lmao
>>
>>730904143
good luck in flight school, I'm sure they'll let you flip it around
although knowing the modern military maybe they will

We're not talking about planes or flight sims

>Bad controls
I never noticed any problem with the controls. This is probably something you made up in your head because the game is slightly harder than the usual Mario experience and you'd rather blame the controls than yourself for failing at it.

>Bad camera
The camera is better than Mario 64's camera, it's literally just an analogue camera where you can move it around with the C stick and you can even snap to shoulder view. The camera is actually good in reality. You get full control over it.

>Bad level variety
There's tons of level variety. Do you mean aesthetic or the challenges? The challenges have lots of variety between the standard 3d "secret" platformer levels, and the fighting and quests in the normal game. As well as lots of different vacation themed areas with different aesthetics.

>Overly Linear
Linearity is not bad. It's an open world game anyway though so it's not actually overly linear because you get to choose the order you do things. I'm not sure how you even got the idea it was linear, because you need to get the shine sprites "somewhat" in an order? (But not really).

>Padded to hell
I don't know what this even means.

>Being rushed
That by itself is not an argument.

Lol.
>>
>>730901932
Right? fuck this dogshit. Anyone who likes it is a retarded faggot lol.
>>
>>730904519
The way you do it is like twisting a bendy straw around. The flight sim controls are better.
>>
Sunshine filters another
>>
>>730904519
You're retarded. One is controlling the eyes and 'inverted' is controlling the skull

mario 64 is very good about gaining speed, stopping, and turning though
>>
>>730901932
you forgot to mention all the gimmick objectives. instead of fun platforming you're rolling fruits, feeding yoshis, cleaning goo, doing gay minigames or blooper shit etc
>>
>>730902057
Anyone who holds a 3D Mario game above 2D Mario instantly outs themselves as a zoomer. The only exception is Odyssey which is the first passable 3D Mario.
>>
Fighting the same piranha boss fight 30 times over
Lack of a fire or ice level
Blue coin bullshit
Still a fun game
>>
>>730906476
Yes, now show what it's like just by moving the stick and not using jumps

It's sluggish
>>
>>730907083
do you play 2d mario without b-dashing as well? it's sluggish too
>>
imagine a universe where we got the original open world mission style marry-oh sunshine instead of miyamoto upending the table and forcing them to make it a clone of mario 64
>>
Look, just shit the fuck up.
