I never see any threads about the tormented souls games. Are they any good?
>>
yes. But /v/ is a normie AAA slop board so what do you expect?
>>
Second one is good, but having a map with a character pointer and ?'s marking the location of the next puzzle ruins the suspense. So its more of a check the boxes game than kino survival horror like the first one... for survival horror to work death has to be truly punishing but we can't have that any more because of "muh accessibility"

I didn't finish the first one because I don't have a PhD

Are the puzzles that fucked

Yeah, that handholding map crap completely kills the atmosphere. The whole point of classic survival horror is getting lost, second-guessing yourself, and backtracking through creepy hallways while low on resources. When the game points you everywhere like Dora the Explorer, it stops being tense and just turns into a spooky-themed To-Do list. At least the first game made you work for it.

It’s really fucking good. The second one is a massive improvement.

This board will shill slop like signalis but completely ignore this game.

Damn now I have to buy them both
>>
How’s the enemy variety?

it's pretty good. if you like classic survival horror games then you'll like them. some things are kind of wonky, and sometimes it feels like the devs only added tank controls because it's an staple of older games in the genre though.
second one also has noticeably worse writing when it comes to dialogue imo, but nothing too terrible.

not a huge amount, but there was enough where it didn't feel like you're fighting the same thing all the time. I feel like 2 did a better job on that front.

they're not that bad. there were a few times I looked things up because I could tell they wanted me to use certain items for a puzzle, but nothing was happening. that and wondering where to go because you're running back and forth between shadow versions of areas as well as basically time traveling to the past of certain areas.

I played both; they're pretty good Resident Evil clones.
The first one lacked polish when it came to combat and enemies; also many of puzzles were so moon logic heavy I just googled several of them; I think it had a creepier atmosphere than the first.
The second one is an absolute improvement over the first on pretty much every aspect, down to having actual bosses, and several of them.
Both games had pretty shitty writing when it came to the main plot; the second one dropped the ball harder there by making the horror science-based a la Resident Evil, even when there are still supernatural things, up to having a laboratory as the final area. . The first game also had several endings while the sequel only has two, which is another thing where 2 dropped the ball compared to the first game.
Honestly if you're a fan of Playstation-era survival horror games you should play both.

I find interesting how the Tormented Souls games were partially funded by the Chilean ministry of culture. Rather than being a political vehicle (Dustborn) or a pretentious nationalist wanking (Aztech forgotten gods) like other government-funded gaming projects, this one reached a balance: it was the game a bunch of Chilean wanted to make while still being a viable commercial product, which is what government funding should aspire to.

Signalis is one of the few games I decided to never play due to its obnoxious fanbase. Fuck it.
>>
Some of the puzzles are extremely obscure but they are fun for the most part. I had to look up 1 in the first game and 2 in the second game.
>>
>>730917202
I did enjoy seeing that they clearly kept some influence of where the devs were from into some areas of the games mixed in
>>730917353
I did have look up the music one in 2 because I spent what felt like half an hour running around playing the song and trying it out in the classroom as well.
turns out I was like one step away from where you're supposed play it and just thought it wasn't correct or that it was bugged.

I played it before it had a fanbase that's the way to do it
