>You can't beat ME!
Well? Was he right?
>>
Yes
Last time I played this game I gave up on him. I'd already seen all the courses and didn't feel like beating my head against him just to see the credits

Yes, that's how races work

I beat this shit when I was 8, what excuse do you niggers have?

>Game literally requires you to let go of the gas before hitting the boost pads
>something completely unintuative and never required before
>Can't win otherwise

Nah its bullshit, I had to call my equivalent of Nintendo Power in my cunt to figure this shit out as a kid
Its unintuitive as fuck

There's an in game tip that literally teaches you about letting off the gas before going over a zipper. No excuses.

beat this again recently after 10+ yrs and seemed impossible except for some trick I had to look up
>tapping A just as you leave the boost give you a green boost
>it actually lasts longer if you let go of acceleration
I recall I only knew this back in the day because someone told me and now I'm looking it up online, its the most unintuitive mechanic I've ever seen in a racing game

you aren't using the zippers correctly

it's okay i beat the entire game before figuring out you're supposed to stay off the accelerator entirely until your speed starts going back down

probably one of my weirdest faps
>>
>>730919181
what the game doesn't teach you, however, and this is the unintuitive part, is that ANY accelerator use after the zipper just flat kills the boost entirely

you could probably figure this out using the speedometer, but almost everyone uses the map instead

Taj literally tells you after beating the first boss
>>
>>730919181
This was one of the first video games I ever played as a young kid. Someone turned off the subtitles. Maybe I'm remembering wrong, but I'm pretty sure that when Taj gives you tips, there's just no text there without subtitles so he doesn't tell you at all. Either way, as a kid I remember doing that race without knowing about the trick.

That race is absurdly hard considering the target audience was kids around the age of 6. As an adult, without knowing which characters are easiest, it's still a damn challenging race. Most people downplaying it probably used the exploit where tapping A gives you higher top speed than holding it as intended, and on top of that used easy characters. First Wizpig is a ridiculous challenge in a toddler game. The actual final race against him on the rocket is a million times easier.

That cauliflower ear is intentional, it's shorthand in british animation/comedy for someone being the lowest born hillbilly imaginable. Nobody is allowed to be normal in a Rare game.

>The actual final race against him on the rocket is a million times easier.
I had a harder time for that race than his first race. You could not got hit or slow down during the flying race at all or you'd lose. It was absurdly hard imo. I also had a hard time with the silver coin challenges in the castle tracks.

>You could not got hit or slow down during the flying race at all or you'd lose
Same goes for the first race, except there you had to hit every single boost and you had water which was an insta-loss. In the second race you're in a plane, so you just had to not get shot in the one small section where there are shots which is far easier than not accidentally hitting the water. There's even a shield balloon right before it iirc. On top of that, you could shoot Wizpig. There aren't any powerups on the first race.

The second race leaves lots of wiggle room for error. You'd better be absolutely fucking perfect on that first race, though.

>beat wizpig without the zipper cheat.
You didnt beat the game fags.
>>
I beat Wizpig but never unlocked the clock.
>>
>>730917002
I beat this race for my friend years later, I had never played this game before.
>>
>>730925179
the time trial staff ghosts are what actually taught me i was screwing up the zippers

>>730923523
i saw that hint, yet it still doesn't suggest you should stay off the gas for like 2-3 seconds after, so dumb kids like me were releasing the button, hitting the zipper, then immediately gunning it again
>>
Haven't played it in years but I vaguely remember that you spend most of the race behind him and he slows down a lot near the end so you can overtake him in the last minute, likely intentionally designed that way for drama and tension.
>>
I'm DrumSTIIIIIIICK
>>
>>730925179
TT isn't that bad honestly. It becomes a lot less daunting when you notice that the ghost is actually pretty sloppy on all the hoverboat and plane tracks, you only really have to bust your ass on the kart tracks.
>>
>>730928174
The snow tracks are definitely the worst, with that one track that has the loop being the hardest to race well on. Fucking bullshit ass water near jumps you barely fail to make and surrounding a super narrow section
>>
>>730919940
CTR has similar stuff, but it feels really good
