why is Leon styling over killing zombies? have you guys seen Requiem and what is Leon doing? it all started here on RE4.

RE1-3 had nothing of this, it was a tense item management action (sure) but horror game, RE4 turned the franchise into Devil May Cry with guns and now Requiem is the culmination of this

I like RE4 but the tone of the 2 and 3rd game is what the franchise should have stuck with. Code Veronica started making the serious really anime and then re4 went all wacky wahoo. The tone of RE2 and RE3 is quite serious and grounded. They are kinda the odd ones out in that regard as most of the other games in the franchise have a bit of a silly or light hearted tone.
