Did it come out too early?
>>730918748it needed to drop right alongside a movie and it needed to be a better game
No but a sequel with fire and ash people instead of just DLC would've been good.
>>730918748Movie games are slop by definitionNot playing it, no way no fucking how
>>730918748can I play as a human and genocide the blue monkeys?
>>730918748no, it was too late to sync with TWOW, real damage was to put it as a uplay timed exclusive however
cons>cringe writing>annoying characters>boring or bad mission designpros>impressive visuals, very pretty>gameplay is okayi had to skip all the intro cinematics, couldn't handle it and still refunded after an hour
>>730920408Desperate nakadashi that doesn't even register for her before she takes control and destroys my pelvis.
>>730918748There is no good way to make good Avatar content using the material present in the movies, because while there is interesting material at its core, it has been strained through the most bland mass appeal and design by committee process imaginable, so most of that interesting material has been left on the cutting room floor. At this point the only way to use the movies for a compelling game is to just do an Aliens/Terminator crossover with them.
>>730919841didn't it drop alongside the second film?
>>730918748It came out too late as it was worse than the previous ubisoft avatar game
>>730919841It needed a human campaign where you fuck up the navi.
>>730920201No, the humans are comically evil in this game. If you wanted some nuance to the conflict, this game isn't it.
>>730925836I wanted to be the comically evil (completely justified) human, not "nuance"
>>730925892What the series needs is someone to make the case for humans.
It's just Far Cry again but blue
>>730925963The first movie already did by stating the Earth is dying. Everything shown suggests Pandora is humanity's only option, there isn't a plan(et) B they can go to, they either take Pandora or die outAt that point no nuance can be created because the stakes are already about an entire species dying, the only question is whether it's humans or na'vi
>>730926269>implying Cameron remembers that
>>730925984I wish the gameplay was farcry. It's just boring sneak behind the robot and shoot the glowing vent simulator. Farcry had way more options when assaulting a compound. I heard the gameplay is better in the new DLC with new slowmo acru letting you play aggressively, but didn't buy it, waiting for sale. The game is so fucking pretty, I really wish it was good, but it has some gameplay retarded decisions like:>unlocking the flying mount too early >unlocking the horse after you unlock the flying mount, making it useless>no 1st person for mounts>the PC being fucking slow>no parkour/tree-branch grabbing >retarded 'level' system where equipping more health makes you deal more damage >retarded 'level' system where equipping weapons you are even using makes the weapon you want to use deal more damage>useless contribution system where you can redeem worthless mats from NPCs, since anything not gathered by hand with food gathering buffs is completely subpar>shitty flying system that isn't momentum based
>>730918748Nobody cares for this because it doesn't let me be space marine. The truth is that most people really would rather be the humans. Nobody wants to play ad the hippie blue monkeys.
>>730926269>because the stakes are already about an entire species dying, the only question is whether it's humans or na'viWrong. We already know what the canon ending is thanks to Disney. It ends with humanity and blue cats living in peace, with Pandora being some vacation/spiritual retreat type planet for humans. What happened to Earth? idk I don't think it was ever explained
>>730926269That doesn't really make the case for humans, it just sort of floats the idea that there is a nebulous human crisis that can only really stem from widespread corruption and systemic retardation due to the tools and resources at their disposal. Operating in the genuine interests of the humans would not entail doing anything that the humans in the setting would actually want, because that would just propagate "Earth dying" to every planet that they exploit.
>>730926269That was the 2nd film, and it also makes no sense that earth would be dying with the technology that humans have been shown to have. Most notably they have fusion energy, but also the ability to filter carbon dioxide seemingly infinitely with their masks (put an upscaled version of that on earth and you've solved the greenhouse gas issue).
>>730929272>you have gas masks? that means global warming doesn't exist anymore, just put a giant gas mask in the atmosphere
>>730929001>because that would just propagate "Earth dying" to every planet that they exploitOkay, but why should I care? So we ruined Earth, we fuck over Pandora in say, 100 years, we move on to whatever alien shithole we find next and fuck them up too. Maybe we'll get better and stop this cycle along the way, maybe not, but the other outcome is human extinction
>>730929371There are significantly many more planets, there is no reason to live on an inhabited one if it inimicable to human life. The Avatar movies also cover the timespan of 2154-2170, 100 years is intensely optimistic considering that Earth goes from inhabitable to evacuating in 15 years.
>>730929326Fusion powered CO2 filtering facilities could be a potent way of altering the atmosphere.
