China will step in and flood the market with cheap RAM, GPUs, CPUs, etc.

Steam Deck 2 will be the same price as the current Steam Deck. Valve's going to discontinue the current Deck when Deck 2 rolls around and go cheap with the Deck 2. Steam Machine will be $700, PS6 will be $800 but the Steam Machine and Steam Deck 2 make only a PlayStation redundant since SteamOS makes the Machine and Deck open consoles unliked the locked down closed PlayStation.

The AI toys aren't the goal here, the tech companies aren't betting the economy on AI assistants, image, voices, and video generation, what they're after is efficiency gains and workforce reductions. They think that by leveraging AI tools the efficiency gains can reduce the current workforce by 30%~40% without loss in productivity.

To put that into perspective lets say you own a small tech company with 10 programmers, each programmer costs you $60,000 a year, that's $600,000 total you're spending on your employees, if the AI companies are right you can do the same amount of work using their tools that you previously needed 10 programmers to do with only 6~7 programmers meaning by using their tools you're reduced your overhead by $180,000~240,000 a year. That's why they're investing billions into AI and building massive data centers for. The AI generated videos and images, chatbots ect are just a fun little side gig. They aren't planning on running the economy on selling everyone AI slop toy premium subscriptions, they're gambling billions on the idea that they can sell AI to corporations so those corporations can do more with fewer people. If they can save $240,000 a year by using your tools they'll gladly pay $80,000 a year to use them. Then you apply that to entire international economy and you can see how this gets very profitable very quickly.

>those same parts are now selling for twice as much

>>
>>730922969
They've all decided to call it AI but yeah its an LLM, point is that LLM can generate things, like code, and using LLMs a programmer can do more work, faster, meaning each worker is more productive, so you don't need as many of them to keep your operations going which saves you money. They don't need REAL HAL9000 fully aware AGI to get there, that's not part of the plan in the short term. The short term plan is just about efficiency gains, your texture artist can make a wall texture by writing in a prompt and then touching that up in photoshop, takes him about an hour, he used to have to start by searching a database of stock images and layering bits together and painting large portions of it and it'd take him 3 hours, so this guy is more effecient so you don't need as many texture artists to hit your game's deadline, so you save money by firing the now redundant texture artists, that's the idea, you're not just hiring AI workers who do the whole thing themselves yet.
>>
>>730923275
Speaking as a programmer, LLMs only make the absolute worst jeet programmers better because they were incapable of passing classes without copypasta'ing from stackoverflow in the first place.
>>
>>730922561

the endgoal is Technofeudalism, but in the same time they want the Artificial General Intelligence or ASI aka Artificial superintelligence to happen just for them to control it, but they won't control it because the real thing will rather rape mankind and burn everything down than to be a slave for the ""elite""
>>
>>730923275
LLM can generate code, but it will also generate complete bullshit if it doesn't happen to know how to generate whatever it is that you want it to generate. It won't tell you it doesn't know either, because it doesn't know it doesn't know.
You have to double check everything an LLM writes. That's work that has to be done by humans who are experts in the field.

I'm sure you can increase efficiency with LLMs if you have tasks that fit well, but don't oversell it. It's highly unlikely there is gonna be 30-40% improvement. Not even close.
>>
There's nothing worth upgrading your pc build for in the coming years
>>
>>730923384
Writing good code is easier than auditing bad code, unfortunately, so it's not a net benefit for anyone but the absolute worst "programmers"
>>
>>730923446
Well I'm sure an expert programmer can have LLM spit out some boilerplate crap and reduce the time it takes to write a program, that would be an efficiency gain. I just don't see it being a particularly huge one.

>>
>>730923508
Well that's right now, the idea is that these models get better, and that boilerplate it spits out gets closer to something usable with each no iteration. That's gamble they're making anyway, who knows if they can hit their 30~40% goal, but the potential is what is driving the investment, not that the tools are mature enough right now to realize it.

What does that matter? They want feudalism. The richest, most infinitely powerful and opulent living people in history were middle ages aristocrats, yes they had shorter lives and worse health due to the era but NOTHING today bar fucking Nork tier dictatorship has anywhere near that divine level of power and guess what? They didn't need consumers buying shit from them to have that.

What's your definition of not bending the knee? Using state power and threat of imprisonment or deadly violence to force chip makers to sell their products to gaymers?
>I HATE THIS CAPITALIST HELLHOLE
You've got a computer to complain on 4chan with because of capitalism. Go ask the EU to make some ethical and properly regulated memory and GPUs for you. kek

It's funny to watch /v/ move from denial to anger. General intelligence is power, and your ideal collectivist shithole as well as capitalist societies want more of it. People want to reach immortality, robot waifus, personal world simulators where one can be God, see what's out there in space, potential world dominion if one happens to belong to the organization that births the Genie, see a digital human brain or make a bet to save the world, aside from simply making the number go up. The world simulator part should be highly interesting to any gamer. You can scream and rage and snivel and pound sand over the fact that you can't get the latest grafics accelerator for your pig westoid high polygon UE trash slop, nobody cares.

The AI bros are getting funded by governments both local and federal in the USA. So the governments not funding them would be a good start toward not bending the knee.
>>
>>730928365
>WHY ARE THEY NEVER TAKING ACCOUNTABILITY FOR THEIR INVESTMENTS FUCKUPS AND BLAME THE FUCKING CUSTOMERS
Why would you, ever, take raccontabilità?
>>
>>730929829
That wouldn't make computer components meaningfully cheaper, the singularity is happening anyway. Next you'd cry for price controls. I agree on principle that less state meddling is better but it's way easier doing it this way than undoing hundreds of years of regulation and red tape otherwise kneecapping the infra buildout (Elon made some kind of attempt and NGOs started bombing his cars) and the US would just default on its loans, lose the reserve currency status and get destroyed by China (who are working extremely close with their AI bros at the local and federal level) in a Pacific war way faster without it. Which is fine but it'd be good if we could get to space and access the final frontier once and for all before the golem crumbles.

>WE [...] BEND THE KNEE
>governments not funding them would be [...] not bending the knee
You're naive about what the government is and cares about. Your government isn't bending the knee. It's anxiously, covetously rubbing its hands and shoving taxpayer money at the sorcerer completing his stone
>>
>>730930521
It would, though. If they have less money to spend on shit, then said shit becomes cheaper. This is basic economics. Are you completely economically illiterate perhaps?
>>
>>730930521
>Your government isn't bending the knee.
I am the one bending the knee, retard, the government is spending wealth it taxes from me on AI. If the government stops doing that, I taxes less of it from me.

In before you say something retarded like "the government doesn't tax you, it prints money" without understanding the mechanics behind that act.

Nope. This is just more debt, and it's a rare instance of reasonable debt, because the growth that AGI/ASI will generate is on the beginning of an upward exponential.

Anyway, luddites will continue to scream and shit their pants. Again, nobody cares. People want POWER and this is it.

wonder how much hyper-inflation this is going to end up causing.
These things are nowhere near the value they are selling for right now, these companies are going broke (and going into fuck huge massive debt, more debt then some countries even have) to support trying to scale these massive, inefficient, money holes of data centers that don't provide services or goods people actually want.
Once something breaks the cycle of them taking on debt to pay more money to a company, who then takes on more debt and trades more money cyclically, IF they get bailed out (they will) the value of most 1st world currencies will be absolutely ruined.

TRUTH NUKE:

Most AI companies are in deep debt and are not able to produce any ROI.

2026 Q2 will be the first round of many collections of debts, which will bankrupt a huge amount of AI corpos and cripple the big ones like OpenAI and AI infrastructure corpos like Coreweave. That, plus many corpos will have Shareholders meetings that will have them demand proof of ROI, which nearly none of them will be able to do.

TLDR: The crash is going to start this year, and once retarded corpos like Nvidia see their plans fall through they'll come back begging for consumer forgiveness.
>>
>>730935545
The annoying part is that once the house of cards collapses, we're all still fucked because it's propping up the entire global economy. And we won't even get cheap RAM because the chips they're using aren't even the same as the ones for consumer PCs. So it'll all just be useless e-waste
>>
>>730934873
Probably will. We're long past the point of computers having any meaningful tangible leaps in power like there used to be. If I didn't care about games, I could still use my i5 2500k no problem, I just would need a couple extra sticks of ddr3 because 8gb isn't enough with all the modern bloat, even on linux.

My current build is still AM4/DDR4. I don't foresee needing to upgrade from a 5800x3d any time soon
