i played war thunder so i have some experience flying planes but when i tried helis in arma it was super sluggish and difficult to control i have no idea how you're supposed to go upany tips and guides?

W/o a joystick you won't be able to pilot properly.If it's not the caseHigher collective makes you go up, lower collective makes you go down. Incline slightly the chopper in the direction you want to go, incline in the opposite direction to slow down. Except in rare occasion, you want to go toward where your nose is pointing. Try to land softly as helicopter are fragile. Once you start to git good at simple maneuvers you'll be able to try the cool thing you see in movies or Vidya
