i played war thunder so i have some experience flying planes but when i tried helis in arma it was super sluggish and difficult to control i have no idea how you're supposed to go up

any tips and guides?

There is a simulation setting in arma that you may have enabled by accident. W/o a joystick you won't be able to pilot properly.
If it's not the case
Higher collective makes you go up, lower collective makes you go down. Incline slightly the chopper in the direction you want to go, incline in the opposite direction to slow down. Except in rare occasion, you want to go toward where your nose is pointing. Try to land softly as helicopter are fragile. Once you start to git good at simple maneuvers you'll be able to try the cool thing you see in movies or Vidya

some helicopters are more sluggish than others, learn with the little bird since in general is more responsive

a helicopter always flies into the direction you tip it too
so you basically have to get some height and then tip it forward to fly and if you want to slow down or stop you tip it back

I dunno, just fly. Enjoyed that mission to extract soldiers and shooting bmps on the way. Was it black hawk?
