The Steam Deck OLED released on November 16, 2023.Two years after release, how does it hold up? Is it still worth getting in 2026?
>>730928361I literally just bought one.30 FPS on medium settings for the Witcher 3Runs the Resident Evil remakes perfectlyPlays WoW and FFXIV well.It still holds up as long as you're okay with 30 FPS on a handheld. That's true for all handhelds currently on the market.
It can play games from 2015. Everyone should be really proud.
>>730928361I bought an lcd steam deck a month before the oled was announced. But I'm still happy with the lcd one. Comfy bed gaming is all I do so I don't care about battery life
>>730928361It's better to wait a year or two for the Steam Deck 2, at this point.
>>730928361Performance is shit in newer games, TAA at 720p looks atrocious.
>>730928578yeah... about that
>>730928715>jak connor wrote something on the internet so it must be true!do you not understand that anyone can write anything on the internet? just because someone made wordpress blog doesn't make their writings true.do they not teach anything at school anymore?
>>730929791>RAM prices have already increased 5-10x on the consumer market>new generation GPUs are literally being discontinued months after releaseJust because you wish it weren't true doesn't make it so anon
the thing that amuses me most is that the steam deck is the only piece of hardware that runs gta iv at a nice solid framerate with zero problemstook almost two decades to get a machine suited to the game but here we are
>>730931937>the steam deck is the only piece of hardware that runs gta iv at a nice solid framerate with zero problemsWhat? Any PC from the last 15 years can manage that(newer systems with path tracing), also many phones can clear it at this point
>>730928361I reached the point where few new games interest me and the ones that do run great (Dragon Quest VII Reimagined reaches 90 fps on default settings), i pretty much play on my deck 90% of time, main pc mostly for friendslop.
>>730933346why is niko's head so shiny?
>>730928438>30 FPS on medium settings for the Witcher 3It gets 30FPS playing Cyberpunk too which is wild.
>>730928361I love my Deck OLED and I play it every day in bed and while on my stationary bike. And I bring it with me when I'm going to appointments or restaurants. If mine disappeared I'd instantly buy another one. And if a Deck 2 comes out and it doesn't have any downgrades from 1 I'll buy it day one, and keep my 1 as backup. It's amazing for emulation (I have entire libraries on it, just set a shortcut for Emulation Station on Gaming Mode and it's perfect), and I've finished (and replayed) a few games like Advance Wars 1, 2, DS, DoR, all Metroid games (even 1 and 2 which suck ass) including AM2R (which is amazing on the Deck) and even the 3DS one, though I still have to get Dread working, Harry Potter GBC, Batman Arkham Asylum, and a bunch of other games, all that in 2025.And the OLED screen makes it instantly better than all the other handhelds. So yeah, I strongly recommend it.
