I feel like even among martial classes there’s a good level of diversity. Paladin does not play the same as barbarian for example.

That's probably what OP did, because the biggest difference is between spellcaster and martial. Spellcasters have the biggest toolset, and that's what someone should play if their brain is too big for

Casting isn't even low damage, because you get Spellsparkler early on, and then Magic Missile or Scorching Ray does a lot more damage. Later you get AOE spells. If I use three rows, I can fill every single slot with a spell (that isn't useless).

I just couldn't get into the game. I made several characters, didn't care for really any of the classes. Monk and Hexblade Warlock were the only ones I somewhat liked. I'm usually a big Paladin fan, but I just couldn't get into this game's version of a Paladin, despite the fact there are four "different" Oaths you can take with the Paladin for RP purposes.

I found combat in Divinity to be way more fun, despite it being similar. The Divinity developers just made a better battle system imo.

I am very excited for the next Divinity’s combat, given how much they are hyping it up. Swen described it as an “evolution”.
They even said they are using a combat idea from a previously cancelled game that they couldn’t do at the time, but they could now.

The feats are very sad in this game because they are many good ones but you’re often shooting yourself in the foot by not going with ability score improvement. You get so few of them AND it’s tied to class level not character level for some reason.
