Odyssey completely lost me when you meet up with Markos for a side quest after Phoebe dies and neither the main character or Markos even mentions her death, that was when I lost the last bit of respect for these non-characters and this game's bullshit plot and garbage writing

That's the problem with all ubisoft games really
they have retarded distribution of money
>world designers get almost of all of it
>writers get literally nothing

AC unity has one of the best world map but i don't remember a single side mission from that game

Your problem is you're taking the main story seriously when you should instead be focusing on the journey itself on the assload of side content.
Odyssey is at it's best when it's being a Hercules simulator, not when it tries to be super serious.

AC games always have such cool worlds to explore but they are always let down by how bad the writing is. That's why I think Origins is the best of the nu-AC games because Bayek is the only decently written main character theyve had since.

I played Odyssey more like an adventure game where i am just a mercenary doing things getting into ship battles instead of taking any time reading shit
While i think killing cult is pretty cool there should've been a lot more to

They keep ballooning the world size too. Origins felt plenty large to me, and with Odyssey I literally had to take a break because of how big it was.

I have thought about this and I think the problem is geography. Origins is huge but it's very guided by the Nile. A lot of the map is empty desert with the main explorable area being a straight line up and down the Nile which makes the huge world feel a lot more manageable. But Odyssey is just huge for the sake of being huge, there's no direction to the map, it's designed to be content for the sake of content like an MMO. The whole game is designed like this. Sometimes the ship gameplay can even feel like a hindrance because of the geography of the Peloponnese. I feel the game would've been much better if they shifted the map more to the east and included the west coast of Asia minor with the Aegean in the center. The Persian invasion would've suited the game better than the Peloponnesian War. The story did absolutely nothing with the war anyway.

>he let phoebe die

You can just chalk it under "canonically she died later and the reconstruction doesn't happen in canonical order".

Pretty sure the side quest only becomes available after the point in the story when Phoebe dies. Anyway I don't like when people try to rationalise bad writing in games with mental gymnastics like this.

From what I remember, Markos and Phoebe seem like they barely know each other, if at all. There's also the fact that sidequest actually opens up as soon as you get access to the world map; it's not a progress-locked quest.
For all that could happen, Phoebe could still be alive.

It's also Markos. He's an idiot.

Bayek was like a charisma vacuum. Literally had nothing going for him except being a pussy whipped beta. The most generic ass goody-two-shoes nigga with the most generic opinions and views. At least Alexios is funny sometimes.

The NuAssCreed games have been one of my guilty pleasures, maybe I should go back to Odyssey.
