If Minecraft is a bland chicken sandwich, Hytale is like a chickenburger. It's the same blandness, reimagined and just different (neither good or bad). It's completely serviceable, and right now will have the public spotlight (much like PEAK did for a while), but I don't think it'll really grow beyond that. Minecraft, when it was first being shown off to the world, had the unique-ish wowfactor of "I can build ANYTHING?". Hytale doesn't really have anything like that in it's core systems (which should be the things shown off in EA). Maybe they'll add something to build a game off of later I supose,

The saddest part of seeing any online discourse is everyone saying "but think of how good the mods will be". Mods are great, and can be fun additions. But if a selling point of a game is not -even-actualized mods, then why would anyone want to get the game until the mods are there.

I do like have they've leaned into doing more ruined stuff than what Minecraft does. This is something that Vintage Story does as well and I'm a bigger fan of. It does cause a loot-problem though if they're not careful like how Minecraft wasn't. The loot in the "dungeons" needs to be a bit proportional to the danger level of the enemies within. Otherwise you'll end up with people bumrushing the dungeons and ignoring early game content - or ignoring the dungeons if the loot is too ass to the difficulty in getting it.

In the end, I think the game is fine and will end up being fine. I just think it's going to drop off hard when the next indie darling shows up, and then kinda just fizzle for the next few years without doing anything amazing.

I wouldn't mind this. The problem is that they want to monetize the shit out of it outside of the initial buy. Not to mention the always online bullshit. Yeh, nah. It's trash. Can't believe I even expected anything to come from this. I honestly thought this was a passion project of that kike Simon. I figured he'd be loaded already now and just wanted to make a nice game: Minecraft re-imagined.
WElp, it's definitely not that. Instead, it's Minecraft: Blackrock
lmaoooo
Never buying.
I hope Simon dies horribly. Filthy kike.
