>look like shit>combat feels like shit>jank, cryptic, and unfair as fuck even by NES standards>22 sequels and 2 netflix seriesfucking how
>>730936779Skill issue.
>>730936779no shit it isn't going to play like a modern game, it was the first game in the series released for the nes in fucking 1986. what are you honestly expecting?
>>730936779true but I played it when I was 8 so it's must be good
>>730936779true but I played it when I was 28 so it must be good
>>730936779>>jank, cryptic, and unfair as fuck even by NES standardsPeople back then liked that. The point was to beat the game and brag about it to your friends. As long as the game wasn't a buggy mess, the controls were responsive, and it was technically beatable, no one cared how "unfair" it was.
>>730936779There were less developers back then and less games coming out per year, so anything that came out was considered a classic. It's not surprising that Castlevania got a bunch of sequels and remained an active series when games like Ninja Gaiden, Adventure Island, and NES Metroid were also popular enough to be remembered for sequels as well.
>>730938138>There were less developers back then and less games coming out per year, so anything that came out was considered a classic.Ah the old "everyone before me was dumb as hell" mindset that youth always has about the past.
>>730936779>crypticNigga you just walk around and whip monsters
>>730938224No, it's because Nintendo was more restrictive with publishers producing games on their platform (publishers were only allowed to publish so many games every year on the NES) and because publishing was more expensive, given that every game needed to be put onto a physical cartridge and then shipped to a physical store, drastically increasing costs per copy. It meant that only the larger companies could put out games, no one-person indie studios, and that companies needed to focus more time on less games per year rather than shoving whatever crap they could into an 8-bit format and then throwing it onto a digital storefront.Shit was more memorable because there was less of it, and so each release got more attention. Hardly anybody remembers any game characters from the Atari years outside Dizzy or Jet Set Willy, but a lot of people remember a ton of characters from the NES.
>>730936779There are actual bullshit NES games and yet you picked the one game that is actually very fair aside from one boss, plays well enough for a 40 y/o game and the only cryptic shit in it would be some secret points/chickens which aren't necessary to beat the game.Unironically kill yourself OP.
>>730936779>crypticNigga CV1 is barely more complex than Mario
>>730936779It’s a 40 year old video game you retard what do you expect?
>>730936779Dark Souls lifted its entire control scheme and design philosophy from NES Castlevania. That's how ahead of their time these games were.
>>730936779>filtered by stairs just like in real life eh fatty
>>730936779Nigga just press down.
>>730940208>>730940239Are you guys seriously defending bad game design and brainlet programming? I guess you guys are truama bonding over bad controls?
>>730936779there is nothing cryptic or unfair about CV1, it's hard the first time but once you take your time. the game is fairly easy, CV1 only really serves to punish you for trying to rush through it, if you take your time you can beat it near consistently in 15 minutes.
>>730936779UFO 50 trannies will pretend any game in their fake nostalgia slop collection holds a candle against castlevania NES
>>730940362CV’s stairs are fine. Always have been. Learn the rules of the game.
>>730936779How can a short and linear action game be ''cryptic''? were you going to post a CV2 webm but fucked up your shitpost?
I don't understand why people like cryptic puzzle games such as this. This game where nothing makes sense, it should specifically tell you where to go. It's practically impossible to find any secrets in this game. I broke a wall and there was food and it healed me. How's that make any sense? Why would you eat shit from a wall? I climbed up from a different screen and now when I fall down I die? No returning to the previous one I guess. How do I know about the completion rate? Does the game even show it at the end? People must have followed a guide
>puzzle gameah this is a bot thread made for fake rage engagement and feed the AI. I am out.
>>730936779castlevania is one of the most consistent and balanced 2d action games, while also being very lax, and yet "gamers" act like its some torturous feat of strengthyea it was considered hard as hell "back in the day" by little kids when video games were basically a new concept, not grown ass adults who have played video games their whole fucking lives
>>730936779The only Castlevania I like is the original. It’s a fun and (mostly) fair challenge. Igavanias are pretty, but slapped together, and the other classicvanias are just difficulty masturbating.
>>730940968You’re a genuine retard. Mooncat mogs.
>>730941747The other Classicvanias are all easier though. CV1 is literally the hardest one.
>>730937149Games have existed for thousands of years. Even the cavemen in the middle ages knew how to make a fair and balanced game: chess.
>>730938138Fewer. Not less.
>>730941283That's the sequel.
>>730936779>Has a sub weapon specifically tailored for that exact scenario>doesn't use it>WOOOOW SO UNFAIR I HATE OLD GAMES
Why is there a Castlevania 1 schizo now
>>730938676Kek
>>730936779I beat it when I was 8 years old
>>730936779How is it cryptic? It's a sidescroller with some secrets here and there. I also wouldn't call it unfair, just really difficult. The part in the second before last level where you have to fight on a bridge with floating skulls coming from left and right and some shield nigger, and then a boss right after with no health inbetween filtered me and it's where I quit.
>>730936779>crypticDid you get lost in 1-1 of Super Mario Bros. as well?
