keep the terraforming and stuff cause i do like that and the HHP style features
set it in a valley instead of an island, i'm weary of the tropical aesthetic.
add deeper relationships, something like pic related: (in game you can only see this via dr. shrunk)
>>
Set it in the PNW and refocus on the cozy village/small town nature.
Let things in houses break that you can fix with mini-games so you can go over to a villagers house, fix some shit, borrow a cup of sugar and stay for dinner.
Alternatively you can always pay bells to fix up the town but it doesnt improve your relationships as much. Also have developable relationships, AC is so fucking hollow and undercooked, it needs more personal shit that isn't Villager eugenics and happy homelife academy redecorating

Employment simulator. Get a fucking job. Have the various shops and special NPCs be hiring, and the player can apply for part-time jobs. Each job is a minigame of some kind, and each shop has actual real time store hours, only being open on certain days or times. Many of them are multiplayer so you can do them with your friends.

Make it an adventure game.
Add combat.
You travel to different islands, explore then and collect treasure and rescources.
You then use the treasure and rescources to upgrade your home island from an empoverished garbage ridden slum to your own little paradise.
There are buried treasures and dungeons to explore with ttreasures and hostiles within them. The game rewards exploration by hiding goodies in secret places.
You also need to defend your island from raids.
>>
>>730954465
take all the stuff from new horizons, keep most of it in outside of tool durability, rewrite all the villager dialogue to be closer to GC/WW in terms of personality and add one bazillion pieces of furniture to the game. also readd the extra nook upgrades, make villages larger so we can fit more facilities like the new inn, a post office, retail and so on.

New regions that reward exploration.
>The Nature Park
A sprawling nature path next to a big lake where you can rent a boat. More fish and bugs, and you can also use binoculars to spot interesting landmarks and do some bird watching. Taking photos of birds and local flora and fauna is a new museum quest.
>The Mine
An area rife with rocks, allowing you to quickly get more stone, clay, iron, marble, gold, and the occasional gemstone. Also features the Studio, where you can use your materials to make sculptures.

And I've wanted some sort of underground action ever since watching the Doubutsu no Mori movie

>Remove the Island Designer mode
>Remove furniture placement GUI mode
>Remove DIY crafting
>Remove breakable tools
>Remove "resources" falling out of trees
>Create length of days that matches the hemisphere
>Have 4 hemisphere options
>Allow 4 types of towns (Village, Island, Mountainside, Suburbs)
>Add vehicles. Slow-driving units based on the town-type. (Tractors, Boats, Sleigh, Car)
>Add commodities exclusive to town type, along with 1 exclusive type of fruit per town.
>Tom Nook's store can reach its max expansions by finding fruits and commodities exclusive to the towns the player doesn't have. this is needed to upgrade from Nookington's to Nook & Co. Mall
>An online feature called the "High road" which is a map that looks like the road bridging between the two types of villages, where players can matchmake and find items by the roadside.
>In high road you can't chat with players, but send gestures, and put up items for trade and request another item. You can auto-reply to requests with "Interested", "Not selling" or "Don't have it."
>You'll also find rare NPC encounters on High Road at specific times of day, on certain days.
>The High road looks like a mix of the two towns that have matchmade. If you came from a mountain village and the other player is a city villager, the background is snowy, and the road looks like city. If it's from village to city, there's no asphalt but a road crossing here and there. If it's between City and Island there's a dead end with a harbor, or a dock if it's from a village.
I have now removed the things that made New Horizons bad and added the things that expands well on the existing games.

>Shunt most customization shit off to Happy Home Designer again off the bat, make it a permanent spinoff
>Leave the QOL and outside furniture
>dump crafting IMMEDIATELY
>Have a "seedling mode" (dialogue for pussies, villagers won't move without asking etc) and a "veteran's mode" (for people who want the original AC dialogue experience, having villagers move whenever, and can change your roof paint and such)
>For VM, have meaningful friendship tiers
>For both modes, improve situational dialogue
>Example: villagers will now think you're a ghost haunting them if you talk to them for the first time in x years when you wake them up in their house
>Proper textures for designs, can still use 32x32 mode if they wish
>WW style "villager holidays" like Flea Market and Flower Competition
>Villagers can now grow vegetables/hybrids/foreign fruit/bushes in their garden, % chance to give it to you or you can steal it, which lowers their friendship
>Obviously the shops will be on par with other games
>Bring back the ATM card from CF
>Bring back red 'nips

It's amazing how much the game could improve just by giving people the option to have rude dialogue or not and putting the simslike shit in a HHD game like it was on the 3ds.
>>
>>730954465
Fantasy setting with combat. You can build small towns all over the world. You recruit villagers for jobs, instead of fixed npcs.
Actual village building, like log cabin survival game stuff. A big world with biomes: forest, desert, tundra, tropical.
A "best friend" follower mechanic. You can be an animal instead of human.
Get rid of most if not all non villager npcs.

I feel like they've kind of forgotten about the actual village as a mechanic, its bizarre how the happy home designer and the hotel are both effectively disconnected from your island. the hotel guests at least wander around but you don't seem to be able to actually invite them to live there, which is fucking dumb. I was hoping it'd be a way to mass search for guests but apparently its just more decorating slop, which just feels like a neutered version of the sims since you can't really make your own buildings

>Animal Crossing: Back in Town
>Town layouts include a forest, an island, a mountain, or a desert
>Major gimmick is that you can become a shareholder or a "bellholder" in different companies
>Can work as a door-to-door salesman for Nook's Cranny, a mannequin dresser at Able Sisters, a barista at The Roost, a tour guide at the Museum, design model homes for the HHA, etc.
>If you keep performing well at your job, you can hire someone from your town to work under you, and they will eventually overtake your position as you move up the ranks
>If you become a major bellholder with a good standing in the company, the owner will come to you in making executive decisions, and the outcomes are randomized
>You can earn money from every company you fund
>New city-like area called the Plaza where you can buy fruit, item variants, and custom designs from other towns, online or otherwise
>The Stalk Market hub can be found here, and turnips can be funneled into companies to increase their worth and notoriety
>Startup companies can be found here, and you can fund them to open up shop in your town or merge with other companies
>Redd could form a legitimate business selling art, Gracie and Labelle could sell themed outfits and furniture in bulk, Harvey could open a photo studio, etc.
>Goal of the game is to not only improve the town's wealth, but to also buy out Tom Nook and even Tortimer, who owns the town and the Plaza
>Once you become a major bellholder of the town, you can change its initial layout and even terraform it, although it is slightly gimped from New Horizons
>Resetti gives you access to a blueprint grid of the town, and you can make changes from there which take into effect the next day
>The town would have to be bigger than ever to accommodate all of this
>Tools are only breakable in the earlygame because fuck the player and DIY crafting is relegated exclusively to ReTail
>Villagers take time to build up trust like the old games
>>
You can only terraform if you get elected mayor. Elections are held once a year and villagers can be elected an they'll change the town to their fancy. Villagers moving out is based on friendship score. More town events and events started by villagers with dialogue and mini games and stuff.

Yet another example of the most popular game in the genre being the worst.
Other games in the genre don't just have personality types, they have real characters. Animal Crossing sanded off any and all rough edges because god forbid someone get offended by acting like a real person in a life sim.

Hello Kitty island adventure. All the villagers have something unique. They have a reason to be in your party in terms of gameplay. Fish buddy helps you swim faster, you get more friendship points with certain party members. It also has like questline with reasons to interact with the villagers that give you enhancements and progression to the world. Its not super deep, but it is there.

Fantasy Life has full game behind it so don't even have to engage with the life sim parts if you don't want to. It offers more control while building than animal crossing.

I get that having your place be an island getaway of sorts was the theme for the whole game, but it was definitely to the game's detriment. Losing so many buildings and having to go through so many menus and text boxes every time I wanted to see Katrina, Kicks, or get my furniture customized is the most bullshit thing imaginable. All you had to do in NL was head north past the trains tracks and it was all right fucking there.

I think the fall and winter aesthetics in this game are very nice looking but it'll never take away from the fact you're on a tropical island.

The game is drop-dead gorgeous, I'm willing to give it that much. And having the latest game take place on an island wasn't a terrible idea. But after all was said and done, I have to rank it lowest on the totem pole. Even if they hadn't fucked up almost everything, even if they hadn't taken away all my favorite furniture sets and been complete assholes about everything else. I just don't like animal island as much as I do animal forest.

I'm not gonna pretend that I know where the series should go next, but at the very least I want off the island. Go back to a regular town with just the beach, and everything else is forested or hilly.

I think you're right, this game has an audience beyond me at this point but being in a town is so much better when it comes to changing seasons for me. I think it'll be disappointing because I doubt we'll get a more contained space like up until NL. Maybe they ditch the grid system entirely and a smooth third person camera control will be necessary.
>>
>>730995585
Given enough time, the normies will eventually be on the same page as us. Until then, however, it's like dragging away a screaming tard through mud.

The game needs more abrasiveness. I don't need it to be edgy, but it's gone so far down the sandbox playground spectrum that now literally nothing you do ever has consequence and that defeats the purpose of the series and its long term play in the first place.

Move away from the sandbox concept and bring back meaningful consequence. Don't give the player absolute control over everything. Make it so villagers can leave without your explicit confirmation. Make terraforming projects cost money so that modifying the island has weight and money still has purpose outside of paying mortgages. Bring back more abrasive personalities that might cause arguments between villagers.

Massively cut back on or remove crafting. On paper it's good, but as it is in NH, it massively subverts most aspects of the game. Also for the love of god MAKE TIME BASED EVENTS NOT BE ABOUT JUST GETTING CRAFTING RESOURCES AND RECIPES. MAKE THEM UNIQUE.

All Animal Crossing games feature a trans islander: you, the player.
>>
>>730995967
If you want the terraforming to have money and weight I think you could split the town up into 9 squares, and to terraform there you need to first spend enough bells AND get the approval of whoever is living in that area.

I genuinely can't. Animal crossing was fun for me as a game I played with my siblings when had no other games to play. I recognize it as a game with a large amount of needed time investment, and I can't justify playing those games anymore.

I sure as hell wouldn't mind switching up the perspective entirely so that it isn't entirely top-down and we can see the town from the villager's point of view. Keep it in there as an option, but I wanna truly see my town. Also just off the top my head, I came up with the next game's gimmick. Different kinds of towns and biomes. Instead of just the one kind of village, there are multiple kinds you can move into. Forest, desert, mountain, beach, maybe like a swamp or some shit. You can pick where you wanna go and where you live determines the probability of what kind of villagers move in and what stuff you can do. Unlock the ability to move to a different town later on or something.

Probably the worst part of holidays in NH. They crammed crafting bullshit into every single fucking one. I don't think there's a single festival or whatever outside of the fishing tourney and bug-offs that didn't shoehole in DIY because gotta shill the worst new aspect of the game. Can't even fucking just deliver presents anymore on Christmas, gotta make wrapping paper and shit for Jingle. Bad enough they simplified gift giving.

Genuine question, do you think the GameCube AC has ANY chance of appearing on the Switch 2 paid online GameCube service? I WANT to believe, but it's so easy to imagine a number of reasons they'd never bother.

>>730996442
The way crafting overtook most seasonal events is by far my biggest disappointment with NH in general. One of my favourite gaming memories has always been how unique winters feel in Animal Crossing because for the 1 - 2 months you get to play bingo every day with the snowmen. The idea that there's a mini-game like that specific to just those two months, and those mornings I'd get to wake up and have cold weather outside my window as I play it was distinct and unique and special.

I was so excited for it in NH only for me to build a snowman and he just gives me a recipe and then on subsequent days, items for that recipe.

But it wasn't just that either, it was that EVERY event and season got this treatment. None of them have any unique elements at all now, they're just "find time limited resource, find recipe, make recipe with time limited resource".

I'm not joking about it. A couple times a year PC would give you an item you could gift to your favorite villager, which would send you on a totally-not-a-date date. In my opinion, it's really just a question of how are they going to frame it. Roommate? Best friend? Assistant? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7l5BvnwXRkk

Everytime I try to give this game a chance I always end up bored by day 5, and it's not like it's been some amazing fun through them either. I just don't get it, my brain is not wired for this game. I'll tell you what I told you the other day, there's basically no chance of getting Gamecube AC. Not least because I don't think they give enough of a fuck to mess with the original game's year limit of 2030. Thanks for reminding me how shit snowguys became in NH. They were pretty okay in the first games, but expanding it to a whole ass snow family in NL was one of the coolest fucking things they did in that game. Exclusive items from every single one and the bingo thing was pretty fucking neat. Managed to get my whole house winter-themed from top to bottom. Snowman furniture, ice furniture, ski-slope set. It was so cool. Then they threw it all away just for some menial labor horse shit.

>After the player designs their first VIP Room, Leilani will allow the player to redesign any of the standard rooms, giving them 200 Hotel Tickets for each room that is redecorated. The theme of the room can be changed between one of the 15 standard room themes, or the player can opt to forgo a theme entirely.

So I'll eventually be able to change it up. Very nice.

Don't think that was me anon, I haven't discussed AC here in a few years.

That said, the year limit isn't completely absurd to expect them to work on. Fire Emblem just released on there and has some minor bug fixes that weren't in the original release. But that's still wishful thinking

honestly this series needs a paedophile villager as a source of gameplay tension
