Amusingly one of the most difficult things for these games to pull off is not having the gayest most bland name you've ever heard. If Highguard has taught me anything, it's that these Studios/ Publishers will do anything to follow the money and nothing else, even if it means studio closure. As we've seen recently with Highguard, companies are willing to absorb employees of critically panned games, which signifies that they still don't understand what appeals to Gamers. It's why we still get Hero Shooter adjacent games near ten years after Overwatch (I understand the Billions Overwatch made is a no-brainer, but not everyone is Blizzard pre-scandals with a pre 2016 consumerbase that only knows of one FPS title). From 2023 to now, there's been roughly twelve games within this dreaded morphgenre, with a majority being dead or on life support (There's been a total of FIFTY or more Hero Shooters announced/ released since Overwatch's launch in 2016). Sure, you have some games that stand out on their own, but tend to get swallowed up in the sea of games that get released each year or memory-holed. Separating wheat from chaff and maintaining the process is the only solution in an industry that has too much invested into it, and the widest audience ever behind it.
