Is the dpad any better than the original pro controller? That thing's dpad is absolute fucking dogshit, literally one of the worst I have ever used. Ironic considering Nintendo invented the damn thing. Would be better off playing Mario with literally anything else.

gamecube controller is better
>>
I bought one of these Japanese Gamecube controllers for Smash and I recently compared it to the Pro Controller. This particular model of Gamecube controller is a total meme, being stiffer with the left analog stick and with less clicky buttons.

Total meme controller
>>
>>730978241
For a controller you've never even used??
>>
>>730978402
To add onto what I said. With the Pro Controller you can zoom around fast in Smash Ultimate. With the Gamecube controller all your actions are slowed down because the action on the buttons and left analog stick are slower and less comfortable.

Total meme controller lmao!
>>
>>730976372
tendies hype every new Nintendo controller as the best ever
>>
>>730978848
No bro. These reproduction Gamecube controllers, especially this Smash GC controller, is a piece of trash particularly because the build quality feels high. It's too high quality if that makes sense and it makes it hard to play Smash. The left analog stick is harder to move to do what you want.

The Pro Controllers are really just that good thougheverbeit
>>
>>730976305
Nintendo peaked here.
I still use it everywhere I can.
>>
>>730978980
I think you forgot the pic there anon
>>
>>730975673
That's not the gamesar cyclone 2
>>
>>730979429
>>730978402
It's the Smash edition Gamecube controller. Maybe the old original ones are better, but for Smash, this new reproduction GC controller is bad because the left analog stick is too stiff for such a fast paced game like Smash Ultimate.
>>
>>730979686
I think those reproductions are made by Hori?
>>
>>730975673
I don't understand how this thing costs more than the fucking Dualsense
>>
>>730979919
I don't know, but I bought the Japanese version like five or six years ago and played Smash with it a little bit. All I can say is that between this Japanese Smash Gamecube controller and the regular Pro Controller, the Pro Controller wins because every button press is instant and the analog sticks are quicker. The Japanese GC controller tires out my thumbs in like 30 seconds.

Perhaps someone needs to wear out the thumb sticks by moving it around a lot. Chinese sweat shop deal
>>
I don't like the back buttons.
>>
>>730978374
Aren't melee pro players retiring because they kill their hands using that damn controller?
>>
Ingenius stick design that I'm surprised no one has tried before, but still doesn't justify the cost when it's still the same shitty alps sticks.
>>
>>730980272
it's not the controller. melee players need fast hand movements in general for shit like wavedashing. they'd kill their hands on any controller they use
>>
>>730975673
>drifts
>>
>>730975673
>no hall effect sticks
>Still the same shitty dpad as the sw1 pro controller
>somehow I'm supposed to believe the sw2 pro controller is good because of le premium feel
>the same "premium feel" niggas were going on about for the switch 2 console itself when it launched
I got the plza bundle and the "premium" feel everyone was shilling was a horseshit. You're not meming me into buying the sw2 pro controller
>>
>>730980579
The sticks do feel smooth, it's almost uncanny. Still shoulda used hall effect regardless.
>>
>>730977465
>>730978198
Every controller has a functioning D-pad, the quality of it makes no fucking difference for a platformer or anything with simple binary movement
>>
>>730978402
>>730978836
>>730978980
Erm bro your Nintendo Switch online wireless GameCube controller?
>>
>>730980382
I'm serious though. The Japanese Smash Gamecube controller (this one to the left) will wear out your left thumb quickly, and because the left stick is so "tight" and stuck in place it makes it more difficult to do a whole lot of quick movements.

It's a piece of trash, and the Pro Controller is millions of times better. My movements are way quicker with a Pro Controller
>>
>>730980803
melee players aren't using this. they're using the og gamecube controller
>>
>>730975673
I used my Dualsense on my PS5 for the first time in a year playing Death Stranding 2 and I think the Dualsense still clears it. The haptic feedback is so much better than HD Rumble 2, it's ridiculous. Not having the back buttons sucks though, I guess the Edge solves that but that price is even more outrageous than the Switch 2 controller price.
>>
>>730980884
I should expect so. I bought it thinking it would be just as good. It's not. I'm sure the old original ones have a less "tight" and stiff left stick. The buttons also feel terrible compared to how I remember from my youth

Maybe I'll buy an old OG one

>>
>>730980803
what about the switch 2 ones
>>
>>730981564
I haven't tried the Switch 2 Gamecube controllers. I might buy one, but the original Switch Pro Controller is such a huge difference between it and the Japanese Gamecube reproduction that it's like night and day.

I would just play it safe and get an old Gamecube controller for Smash
>>
>>730981564
OR You could get a cheap Chinese or Vietnamese fella to roll around your left analog stick for a few months to loosen it so you can actually quickly move without developing carpal tunnel

That's not even how RAM works. It only retains data when powered on and gets wiped when powered off. There's no advantage from putting RAM in it since the RAM would only work when it's connected to you PC.

Hori's quality downgrade on most of their peripherals is tragic. Up to like mid-Gen 7, they were making controllers that were almost on-par with first-party controller quality. I suspect them starting to officially sell globally in Gen 7 is a big reason why their quality dropped off.

As a Switch 2 owner I can tell you I'm extremely happy about the design and feel and probably my favorite console purchase since the Xbox. The Joycons feel great and are a massive improvement over the Wii remote because of gyro.
>>
>>731006630
I preordered a Dualsense from Walmart before launch, and for some reason they gave me a price check a couple weeks before release that dropped it by nearly $50. I never applied for any price check, so I have no idea how the hell that happened.
>>
>>731006820
Did you end up buying grips or do you mostly play in docked mode? I found the Switch 2 ergonomics to be pretty bad without a grip, it hurt my hand to play it. The joycons themselves feel great when detached though.

Forewarned is forearmed that those SNES colored buttons in the trap-door of the dock won't survive

any $20-30 mouse + keyboard combo will always be superior to ANY controller, except when it comes for 2D games like metroidvanias. even with meme trackpads and gyro, it will never come close to a mouse.

What the fuck do touchpads have to do with gyro
What the fuck does windows have to do with gyro even, it's been supported on different controllers on PC for a good while now
Steam input works on both Windows and Linux and gyro works through it, in fact you have a whole range of shit you can do to customize every game to use different gyro aim modes to replace either sticks or mice
The steam deck supports gyro as well
You could actually pair fucking wiimotes 2 whole decades ago and have them work on dolphin
I will repeat the question, are you mentally deficient?
>>
>>731012256
They knew what they were about with the Wiimote and nunchuk, it's actually kinda baffling that the joycons are uncomfortable as they are when Nintendo was largely king of ergonomics from the N64 up to the Wii U. Though as far as a split controller with pointer goes I do find the joycons are a worthy successor if you have a comfort grip on the things (yes I know this is cheating but joycon gyro genuinely works better than the IR pointing and Motion+ of the Wii)

Please use Google Translate next time if you don't understand what you're reading online.
https://translate.google.com/?sl=en&tl=hi&op=translate

Since you're new to the Valve "console" space, and probably new to PC in general, let me show you what Valve released before this one. The reason Valve made this was so that its own games, like TF2 and CS:GO, would be compatible with a controller while also having mouse-like aim. They released this before gyro aiming was commonplace.

The new hardware is the second generation of the Steam Controller. That means it has similar features of the first one.

It has been over 10 years. The "PC Master Race" ignoring everything else happening outside of its walled garden is clearly not working well.

nah, you have to constantly re-calibrate, just look at the Mario Galaxy ports. Aiming with the IR is more accurate and even Wii Motion Plus is better in Skyward Sword.

>>730995025

>>
>>731013270
Recalibrating is preferable to jerky IR pointing
>Wii Motion Plus is better in Skyward Sword
That shit also had to constantly recalibrate, joycons are steadier
>>
>>731012889
You don't understand how input standards work.
The steam controller 2 not existing (which is the one you pointed at, btw) does not make the other hundreds of controllers supporting gyro completely worthless on Windows. The release of this controller does not modify or alter the xinput to allow gyro. You can connect a dualsense and use it with games outside of steam with gyro support. You can connect a switch controller and use gyro on emulators through SDL. There were many gimmick controllers other than this one on PC, by the way. Some of them focused as well on replacing the mouse. Nothing about Windows makes it unable to use input devices if manufacturers develop drivers for it.

I think the core of the Wiimote with motion tracking of some kind combined with a split design where each hand is nearly fully independent is the only real angle of controller innovation these days. There's only so many times you can reinvent the gamepad, but something that acknowledges your hands are separate for a reason could potentially be a real gamechanger.
