Thresh threw his lantern which can pull people to him, and the monk did the move where he can pull himself to a target, using a ward and pulling himself towards the ward to get close enough to be pulled by Thresh's lantern. This is like three fucking inputs across two players, and the League enjoyers I know actually thought it was impressive. I hated how, for a game that's supposed to be so "realistic", friendly NPCs can, whilst doing a stealth section, peak out above their cover so they're in plain sight of an enemy, but said enemy does not react. Also it really rustled my jimmies how this game gets a free pass both for how fucking buggy it is (PS4 version), and how there are waist-high walls everywhere.

I'd like to add that I was a From fan since Dark Souls. Still love Demon's (OG), Dark Souls, Bloodborne and Sekiro. I really like Dark Souls 3, but this is where I noticed that bosses started being a bit too much: delayed attacks and too long combos for my taste. From didn't agree with me and just ramped that up to an - in my opinion - extreme degree in Elden Ring. On top of that, my favourite part in From games has always been the exploration and level design and they barely exist in Elden Ring; it's just as huge, generic, empty open world.

That french ue5slop thing that got all those awards last year. I knew something was up as soon as I saw upscaling couldnt be turned off.

I find it hard to take Persona stories seriously. I loved P4 when it was just chasing a killer but then OH THE FOG IS MAKING THE ENTIRE WORLD APATHETIC. If you look at what things people talk the most about when it comes to gameplay with these games, it's about specific bosses. Especially if something about their encounter is perceived as "bullshit". Examples include Capra demon, Ornstein and Smough, Nameless King, Twin Princess. Now, I can't read Miyazaki's mind, but my guess is that he noticed how much people talked about the bosses as opposed to things like exploration, and just assumed that this is what makes people exited (and to a large extent, he's correct). Any soulslike. I can spend 5 minutes trying to beat babby's first moveset boss in DS3, feel exhausted and ALT+F4, but I can spend hours upon hours trying to beat a boss/level in other difficult games. It's not the difficulty, it's the oppressive atmosphere of the game that makes me depressed and makes it more anxiety-inducing than doing real-life chores, so I just want to exit it. Also, the movement feels super clunky. It makes me feel insane that I haven't seen this sentiment expressed elsewhere.

Alot of Japanese games that feel the need to fetishize underage children and teens, JRPGs being the main factor in this. Some of them do have amazing worlds but the writing is garbage and the plot is cliche as hell making me hate the cast.

Because everything threatening can be boiled down to i-framing with your dodge rolls, so none of the movement actually matters.
This is also the reason even the worst of gamers can casually beat soulslikes. They're easy rhythm games in disguise, and even the shittiest of casuals can manage to be that.

i didnt like it either, but the levels and scenic traversal were the only thing i enjoyed about the game. it scratched my metroidvania itch quite well with the all the shit locked behind unlocked abilities and the backtracking was far better than say all the metroid primes.

The dodge roll simulator critique is well-trodden (and I mostly agree), I just feel like even the absolute basic WASD moving around in the game world feels yucky and unnerving. It might have to do with the player perspective, or the game having to translate KB&M controls for a made-for-controller game, or it might have to do with how the running/attacking animations look, all I know is that the game feels horrible to control, like nails to a chalkboard. All the difficult games I like have really satisfying WASD and attacks. I might just be weird about it, but it's a super strong disgust I have for it. To compare, Sifu is one of my favorite games ever, which is the complete opposite.

When you press people they'll try to tell you the awkward movement and controls are a feature because it's "le hardcore"
The games aren't even strictly peaking "hard'. They are just slow and very punishing. This is especially bad in Elden Ring like some other anons already mentioned. Enemy will do their 10 hit combo and you get to hit them twice with your limp basic attack and then you repeat it 30 times, if you make a mistake at any point it's a restart.
There isn't much complexity, just very demanding execution.
I still played a good chunk of DS1, but had no desire to play the other games. I gave ER a chance, but it turns out it's more of the same shit and even worse if anything because of see above.
