Was the arg really necessary?
>>
>>731032138
Worth playing?
>>
Nah it's fun all the way through
>>
>>731032421
Yeah? All previous game had one so why wouldn't this one not have it? I swear to God /v/ has an autistic hatred against ARG's for some Inexplicable reason
>>
i wouldnt call it top tier kino but the first half of resident evil 7 was so much better than the second half
>>
>>731034816
>All previous game had one so why wouldn't this one not have it?
Why do I need to know all about your bf previous work? Fag
>>
>>731033652
Absolutely
>>
>>731032421
It wasn't, and actively dragged the game down. Fuck the dev, actual stupid hack.
>>
>>731032421
Nope.
Unless youre autistic about his other games and want to see some HIDDEN LORE!!1! then it adds nothing and in fact takes away a lot from the game as an experience.
>>
>>731036916
>and in fact takes away a lot from the game as an experience.
How?
>>
>>731037071
Time spent on the ARG could have been used to make the game better.

>make one good deck building portion
>fill the rest of the game with dogshit ones

People are retarded, they must have thought it was so amazing to have bunch of different games in the same game.
>>
>>731037071
Instead of being immersed in a narrative you are constantly being interrupted by a reddit streamer for example
>you beat a boss
>instead of the story going on as any game would, the game pauses and you hear the shitty streamer going "OMG I beat him! Wow I cant believe I just did that!"
>>
I hate experimental video games that take chances to do unique things even though they have flaws. All games should just be exact copies of Slay The Spire but worse.
>>
>>731032421
The ARG's whatever, it's not the reason the last two thirds of the game feel like shit to play
>>
>>731037442
That's not the ARG anon, that's the upfront plot of the game
The ARG is finding out the game was made by Hitler to contain Satan
>>
>>731033652
>>731036404
not.
>>
>>731033652
Yeah I'd say it's neat enough for a playthrough if you can get it for like 10-15 bucks
>>
>>731032138
Yeah.
At least you unlock the proper roguelike mode if you finish the game.
>>
>>731037596
Dont care for either.
I dont mind having hidden secrets in the game to find hidden lore. But the streamer shit was a constant annoyance and soured the experience.
>>
>>731032138
Tales of Maj'Eyal
First half is so great, second half is just mindless orc dungeon spam
>>
>>731032138
I have no idea why so many people are invested/highly rate Kaycee's mod. The base card game is too simple to even really warrant a standard STS-esque experience, even with balance changes, etc. The ARG stuff in the actual game is just meaningless and forgettable creepypasta stuff.
>>
>>731032138
>start winning on an early run
>leshy literally says "too soon" and spawns 8 bears
Tell me this wasn't to prevent you from seeing that the game was 2/3rds shit before the 2 hour mark
>>
>>731033652
Intresting game, especially in the beginning it is great. At some point it changes significantly (imo for the worse) and it ends up dragging at this stage, but still does some unique/intresting things and has a neat narrative going on. After you complete the game you can play the beggining part with various changes and with certain handicaps which would make the game worth it just of it alone
Tl:dr, yes
>>
>>731037723
>>731037442
Anon, the streamer interrupting you happens 2 times, 3 if you count the ending, you don't have to watch the reccordings as they are purely optional
>>
>>731039387
Why does a streamer make sense in the story? It completely kills the atmosphere, especially if it's your first time playing and you're curious to see the recordings.
>>
>>731037756
every time I encountered a spellcaster it was game over for me, shit game.
>>
>>731040719
It gets better as you figure out more tools to deal with them, but yeah that was my first experience too, rolling bulwark and getting crushed by mages
Once you get archmage try that, manamaxxing lightning archmage with disruption shield is easy and strong
>>
>>731032421
The ARG felt like one last kick in the balls. Like it was a J.K. Rowling tier drivel that ruins the experience.
>HURR THESE WERE AT ONE POINT HITLERS MAGICAL YUGIOH CARDS
holy FUCK kill yourself
>>
>>731033652
Sure.
Stop when you escape the cabin.
>>
>>731032138
>Oh no, this game stops being a boring card game and pulls a novel narrative
Yeah, real tragedy
>>
>>731040918
>>HURR THESE WERE AT ONE POINT HITLERS MAGICAL YUGIOH CARDS
This isn't even the weirdest thing Hitler did in life, Hitler believing in the heart of the cards would 100% be something that he would do

I am like a new born babe, grasping out at the unknown, but I must grasp:
>never played inscryption
>saw some YTber playing through it, probably when it came out
>not too interested
>FF some number of years
>start playing hand of fate (1, but 2 soon)
>man, this talking dealer reminds me of that other game
>turns out its a hack n slash with no deck, only a deck-based setting
I forget where I was really going with this
Kinda just want to talk about HoF with anons
>>
>>731041350
>pulls a novel narrative
I'm sure that didn't sound absolutely fucking nigger subhuman tier retarded in your head.
>>
>>731041350
>Oh no this game stops being a fun card game and starts being a boring card game
>>
>>731041415
Apparently he told Mussolini that he was possessed by some sort of pre-historic aryan spirit. Which, given the context that German forces were issued large quantities of methamphetamine, is not all that surprising. Freaked Il Duce right the fuck out, though.
>>
>>731032138
At least Kaycee's Mod, once you beat the story, is damn good. I do wish Part 2 was more fleshed out as it had the most potential. The cheevos for it are genuinely fucked up, though, since the only fight you can repeat is the training dummy.
>>731032421
It seemed like it would be cool, but they totally whiffed it with some retardation.
>>
>>731033652
It's genuinely good, but the later half feels half-baked. Endgame circles back to kino, thankfully.
>>
act 1 is great act 2 is good act 3 is very weak free post game act1 roguelike was very fun

inscryption is great and i hope his next game isn't a massive regression gamedesign wise because its pony island again

The second one could have been better if it was more fleshed out.
Third one had great fights and managed to do magic dude's gimmick far better than him, but the structure of it was dogshit.
Bone chick's gimmick had some potential.
Magic dude's gimmick was pretty funny how it played out, but it's plainly clear his format would suck total ass without some heavy revisions.
>>
>>731037756
I can't believe anybody even played ToME before they made the dungeons shorter
9 floor prides were insane
>>
>>731041431
I played some HoF2 (never played 1) and while I don't think it was bad or anything, it also never really jumped out at me. A 6/10 in a world where scores weren't horrifically inflated.
I should try getting into it again sometime, but I've lost all my progress so starting from zero again would be annoying.
>>
>>731032138
The way Markiplier was cheesing his entire playthrough of this you'd think it was the rebirth of jesus.

>really like HoF's presentation
>but the gameplay is just Fable's awful combat
If they just made this function with dice rolls weighted by equipment modifiers, it would be perfect.
>>
I've only ever played this with the boogie mod.
>>
>>731041431
Well, it's sort of a deck. You unlock new events which give you resources and items, and you unlock and upgrade items which you might receive over the course of a challenge. Prepping useful encounters and items for any given challenge is helpful or even downright necessary for some of the harder ones. That said, fuck the gold challenge requirements for Justice in HoF2.
>>
>>731041507
ESL retard
>>
I was prepared after his previous games and while latter stages weren't as climactic it was all still good. Third stage and final boss were ok though maybe too meta. Is the grievance that the Elsh stage should grow into infinity? I didn't like the real word clips though, too on the nose.
>>
>>731045008
Yeah, everyone just wanted Act 1 to be the whole game. Exploring the cabin and finding more tools and cards was more interesting than whatever Act 3 was trying to be. It's why the dev got bullied into making Kaycee's Mod.
>>
>>731045163
Well good for them that he did that but I wasn't bothered. But in the end it's just a different solitaire I guess. On contrary I was surprised how little changed between acts compared to the Hex.
>>
>>731041350
>what if le videogame characters KNEW THEY WERE IN A VIDEOGAME
wow what an utterly original and not played out trope.
>>
>>731045341
yeah so?
>>
>>731041963
The duel disks and dramatic camera panning showing your floating arm model was incredibly funny
>>
>>731045341
>wow what an utterly original and not played out trope.
Honestly, I can't think of many games were this is actually relevant to the plot outsside of Mullen games, there is Rise and Shine and Abobo's Big Adventure I guess?
>>
>>731032138
As flawed as it is, I think it might be goty 2021. It's the only game in a historically shit year that did some interesting things.
