This image is weird to me because I was born in 2001 and I'm pretty sure the PS2 and PSP were apart of my childhood. And I mean actual childhood.
>>731036040That makes sense, I was born in '95 and the Dreamcast was a major part of my upbringing despite not being able to acquire most of its good games until later.Associating game consoles with generations wholesale is kind of tricky because the impact of a console can sit squarely between multiple.
>>731036040Unlike your parents, theirs could afford a 7th-gen console and smartphone when they were old enough to start gaming.
>I was born in 2001Unc is 25 and still post on this app
>>731036040I guess it really depends on your family and interests. I was born in 2001 and played hand me down n64 and ps2 on a crt growing up, but I had friends the same age or just a few years younger who didn't get into gaming until 7th gen
>>731036040Psp came put around the tail end of the ps2. Ps3s were very expensive, so im sure that yeah, you had the ps2 and psp for a number of years. It makes perfect sense that upper lower class or or lower middle class would still be rocking those consoles up till 2011 or so.
>>731036290same, born 90, grew up on nes and other 8 bit dinosaurs with sprinkle of ps1
Born in 94. Grew up with Gameboy Colour, PS1, PS2, and Xbox over different periods. At some point we ended up with a Sega Saturn somehow.
>>731036040That just means your parents were poor and/or didn't love you
Imagine being born 4 years before the Xbox 360 came out lmfaowhat the fuck mang
>>731036040thats because your parents were poor and couldnt afford to buy you the newer games
>>731036184We had a Wii. I mainly played PS2/Gamecube from 2005-2009. Not abnormal and many others my age share this experience.
>>731036040Nah I only saw PSPs when I was in highschool. I remember dudes would brag about having slutty chicks and edgy cartoons as their wallpaper.
Born in '91. My neighbour had a SNES we played alot, but me and my lil bro where saving up for a N64 which we finally got in '98, so that was my defining console.
>>731036870>There are anons old enough to post who didn't exist when the 360 came outWhats it like growing up in this videogame environment? I just can't even imagine. I don't think I would have ever gotten into videogames if I thought this was it.
>>731036040I was born in 94 and we did not do whatever the fuck the guy in that image is doing. My friends and I played P3P and Dissidia on the PSP and that's all it was ever used for
>>731036192>appkys
>>731038609Have you not seen the endless deluge of remakes over the past 20 years? They played the same games as you but with moderate to severe artistic decay
>>731036181It's not that uncommon for kids to grow up with a device that released around the same time they were born (if not before). My family couldn't afford to buy the newest stuff when I was young, so I was firmly behind the curve by a few years. For example, I can remember getting a GameBoy Color when they went on a massive sale around the time of the Advance's launch.
>>731036040it is pretty common to not get the newest electronics.i was born in 1989 but had an original NES and later a DMG grey brick gameboy until 1999 or so when i got an N64 and gameboy color.
>>731036040this dude needs to fix his picture settings
>>731038937Decrease brightness and increase contrast? Or do you mean demagnetifying his CRTV?
>>731036040Growing up I only ever got whatever the current gen was about 2 years or so before it ended, and even that might not be right and it's closer to 1 year, as a positive it meant getting games on massive discounts
>>731036192Seriously lol.. its like tell me you are a virgen without telling me you ar a virgen
>>731036040Thats called being poor.
It makes me feel really sad finding out the shit I grew up with was actually older than me, like a cartoon I used to watch ended before I turned 7 and whatnot. It makes me feel like my whole childhood was a lie.
