Hey.
>>731047771Sup.
>>731047771Hmm... I shouldn't leave this thread until I take a look at that bucket.
>>731047771One of the funniest things about yellow paint complaints is how whenever someone makes a game that clearly doesnt hold your hand 90% of the time, a bunch of negative reviews say how "unintuitive" it is.People are fucking cattle...
Been trying to meet you~
>montage of Pyramid Head wrapping white cloth around trash cans so James reaches the end
AAAAAAIIIEEEEE
Older games and recent hits like Silent Hill f used lighting to indicate where you're supposed to go. Yellow paint = lazy devs
>>731047771>Huh, a thread. I need to find a way to solve this captcha...
>>731047771But for me, it's A Deep Commitment to Purple.
why hasn't there been a game that uses yellow paint to lead the player down a bunch of tedious pathways and dead ends. just a complete waste of time and as you make your walk of shame backtracking to the main objective, some guy in a painter's outfit laughs at you and starts throwing his feces at you like a fucking monkey
games are meant to be interacted with not trick you into thinking you're actually climbing a ladder
>>731048121There was a HOLE here, it's gone now.
Yellow paint should only be enabled on easy difficulty setting.
What’s the controversy? Every game has a compass and a map telling you exactly where to go and that shit is annoying. It’s not always clear whether or not you can use objects like a ladder because they blend into the environment.
Seriously why did devs all of a sudden at the same time decide fucking yellow paint is the best way to guide players?Seems a bit strange how it all happened at the same time.
>>731048012never happened
>>731051057AAA games added it because they probably all worked with the same accessibility agency, and they did some research to determine how to guide tards And then devs who didn't do that simply copied without thinking
>>731047771Maybe that bucket can be of use to me...
>>731047771oh man I love queso
>>731051113DOS1 and DOS2 were prime examples of this. And they are not even THAT deep that you need a ton of guides to playe them and yet a bunch of casual trannies WILLINGLY dove into those games, just to cry about the lack of hand holding.
>>731048012>What's funny about people who don't like thing...>...There are other people who LIKE thing!Hilarious.
>>731047771It lead me to this thread

Hi.
>>731047842homestar quit saying that
>>731047771Chat, how am I supposed to enter the bucket?
>>731047771I haven't seen any yellow paint in RE9.
Extreme signposting like this only became a "problem" when japan started doing it too.
>>731047842Aw crap!
>>731047771I HATE IT.
>>731049678Stanley Parable does most of that in one route
>>731047771Ah, wonderful. I needed a refill.
>>731052238just call them niggers
>>731050846Compass and maps are just hud elements and you can just not look at them or turn them off/mod then out. Yellow paint is tightly welded to the game because it's part of the textures and it exists ONLY because the developers are complete fucking morons who don't know how to guide you naturally AND assume that you're a low IQ normalfag who doesn't play videogames and doesn't have natural gamer instincts such as investigating random ladders to see if they can be climbed or breaking objects to see if they'll have loot.
>>731048012Games are supposed to hold your hand so that you know what things mean, since otherwise the boundary between interactive/intentional and non-interactive/unintentional is imperceptible. You do not know the difference between a thing you can pick up and a static environmental prop unless it is consistently signaled as such, since your normal human thinking does not necessarily line up with the rules of the game. The issue with yellow paint is that it is the worst way to do this, since it is diegetic (implying that someone has painted everything of interest yellow) and also the laziest and least imaginative way to do things.>>731051057Consultant funneling. At some point major decisions in companies pass through a very small quantity of hands. It also makes outsourcing easier, since it is easier to fix after it becomes an issue and you don't need consistent design language.>>731059009You can't turn off HUD elements like objective markers, because the world doesn't make any logical sense in its construction. If an NPC tells you to "go take care of the nearby bandit camp" and gives you an objective marker, then turning off that objective marker does not magically give you directions, especially if the NPC or camp were moved during development and "nearby" now means "on the other side of the map".
>>731051057i don't feel the pressure you notice. i have quite literally never played a single game with yellow paint objectives, nor have i even deliberately avoided games that i knew used it either. yellow paint must be an inherent flaw in games i avoid for other reasons. is there a list of games that do this?
>>731059694>go take care of that bandit camp, it's west of town and near Bob's Potato Farm which is near the roadLol. Not reading the rest.>B-BUT HOW WILL THE PLAYER KNOW WHICH IS WEST AND WHERE'S THE POTATO FARMSigns. Or just realizing that he went down the road for a long time and still hasn't seen any potato farms or bandit camps, instead there's high level goblins.
They keep filling my guts with yellow paint
