Define what a AAA game is. How is it different from an AA or A game? Is there a B game? BBB? Where do indie games fit in?
It's all about budget, the more money wasted the more As

>>731053278So a AAA is a game that cost more than $10.50 to develop?
is there such a thing as AAAA games?
>>731052895The name is taken from bonds ratings sometime in the 90s and refers to its ability to guarantee a return on investment due to the fact that you can just print off arbitrary cheap copies to get infinite money off of a one-time investment. "AAA game" is the equivalent of any modern shitcoin cope marketing that you are familiar with today and has mostly persisted because it leaked into the circles of gamers and journalists talking about it and is now a marketing term for them, since they associate AAA with that kind of investment-talk hype that followed around a few larger games that did coincidentally manage to put their budget to good use (even if the returns were not sufficiently satisfactory for the company). If this kind of thing happened now instead of in the 90s, then the terminology would be the same as any cryptoslop and people would be talking about games with 8-12 year development times being Diamond hands games or some shit while everyone else just mocks Square Enix or something. There is effectively no real meaning behind AAA or AA anymore, since investors are very slightly less delusional about it and the idea of getting infinite returns off of just selling games with a high production value is probably laughable now without going whaling.I suppose AA can refer to someone looking to get funding from an investor calling themselves a publisher, but even Sony complained about the fact that the only "AA" approaching them in this way were transparent scams, since no one wants to work with the publishers that have such awful reputations unless they think that they can roll them for cash.>Is there a B game? BBB?Following the bond rating system yes, but since this is just hype no one would ever imply that returns are not 100%>Where do indie games fit in?They effectively don't unless they're takethemoneyandrun games at which point they fit in as a meme stock.>>731054703No, the terminology doesn't even make sense.
