I absolutely hate this game. I genuinely do not understand what everyone saw in it that I don't. Even the Switch 2's biggest haters will say it's a good game. All you fucking do it aimlessly dig around and get bananas. There's no level design, there's no effort or care put into the game whatsoever, there are no memorable moments, the music sucks, it just isn't any fun at all. I'm at like level 7 and I do not want to play it anymore, it took me weeks just to get that far because I dread opening the game. I really enjoy the Switch 2 and even liked games like Metroid Prime 4 and Pokemon Legends ZA but I just cannot do Donkey Kong.

they completely fucked up the pacing curve and the midgame is simply dullif you're not a drooling retard the bashing mechanic gets old quickly and you start expecting platformer gameplay that just doesn't arrive until much later and even then is pretty lightthe guys who love the bashing mechanic are the ones who unironically say its the best switch game or best game ever, there are more people like this than you'd thinkthey need to find a way to make the bashing mechanic more interesting to revive this genre for most players though, it feels like it has potential

It was fun in the moment but entirely forgettable. I 100%d it (minus grinding thousands of coins just to buy out the store one banana at a time) and I don't think I could describe a single notable non-story collectible.
