Good times. I was one of admins on C&C forum (and news site, I translated news in English to Polish) and my mate's forum for Scunthorpe animu&mango& cosplay fans (I wasn't even in the UK at that time).
Then, there was a forum called Ragezone (they changed their name years later) which had a category for each game, obscure or not, with private servers made by users. There were categories for possibly any Korean and Japanese MMORPG, with some Western ones as well (DAoC, Knight Online). At that time I was a big fan of MU Online (Korean Hack&Slash MMORPG) which looked beautiful for its time and was really fun with exp rates raised, custom shops and events. Used to be a GM on one, felt good wearing ultimate rare-type +11 gear. My character shined like a dog's balls.

For what purpose? I had MAYBE two or three accounts for forums that lied in my spectrum of interest. I must add that forums of that time tended to be very large, with a large userbase, all of them had some sort of offtopic category where you could talk about anything. Only thing you could get banned for was actual spamming and starting flame wars on purpose.

I stopped playing WoW before the Discord era started and gave it a try again.
They might aswell remove guilds at this point.
Everything is on Discord. Raid planning is done on discord, guild chat is dead, dungeon groups are being formed in discord, "what do I need to start raiding with you?" "check discord".
