>Check it out! We have lots of classes and subclasses for you to pick from!
>You're only allowed to cast spells 3-4 times a day and then you must rest to recover LE spell points
>I hope you like basic attacking a lot
>We have spells that you can cast as much as you want, but they aren't as good.
>You may go back to camp and sleep to regain spell usage, but we actually don't want the player resting too much in campaigns. We even included a trophy if you rest too much haha! >Resting is bad for some reason. We don't know why haha
>Oh? You want to know why you can't cast the cool spells without a limit? Because.
>Oh, but you do get more spell points as you level up! Please look forward to going up one level every five hours.
>You can enjoy playing Fighter, Barbarian, Rogue, Hunter, or Monk if that is a problem.
>We also included a Paladin. class. It's basically the same as a Cleric, but it can use heavy armor and better weapons.
>We included four different Oaths for you RP with, despite the fact only one of them is actually different from the other three.
>We have a lot of spells that you'll never use, but we put them in the game anyway.
>Make sure you check out our subclasses and subraces! We have LE RED DRAGONBORN, LE WHITE DRAGONBORN, LE BLACK DRAGONBORN, LE GOLD DRAGONBORN, etc.
>We also have LE STORM SORCERER, LE FIRE SORCERER, LE ICE SORCERER, etc.
>Do you want to kill everyone you meet? Sure, you can do that, but you'll miss out on 50% of the content if you do so.
>Oh? You have a high religion/history stat right off the bat? And you still failed the checks? Your character couldn't identify a statue/religion? Seven isn't high enough. You need nine points.
>It's alright to fail a lot of checks at the start of the game despite having high stats in certain proficiencies! It's part of the fun!
>You didn't invest in charisma? Enjoy missing out on half the checks in the game and failing them.

Groundbreaking stuff, Reddit. I'm having the time of my life.

What exactly is the point of trying to adapt table top rules to videogames 1:1?
>>
>>731061649
Damn, just how livid are you
>>
>>731061649
>We also included a Paladin. class. It's basically the same as a Cleric, but it can use heavy armor and better weapons.

Cleric can use heavy armour depending on the domain, and Cleric spellcasting is much better than Paladin. Are you crying about a game you don't understand? If you hate it so much, then play something else. Don't force yourself to enjoy something if you don't meet the IQ requirement.
>>
>>731061823
It is for losers who watched their favorite movie stars or whoever play D&D for an audience on twitch and want to feel included
>>
My brother in christ you are making complaints that were made literally over three decades ago nobody cares
>>
>>731062053
Okay. Now explain to me the difference between a "Life Cleric" and a Paladin. They're the same fucking thing. Cleric gets a unique healing ability? Big fucking deal. It might as well be a pseudo-Paladin class.

Light Cleric is just "Fire Cleric".
Nature Cleric is just "Pseudo Druid."
Tempest Cleric is just "Storm Sorcerer"

From what I can see they all get to wear heavy armor instead robes/light armor. Wow. Very creative.

>>731062170
I'm glad to know my complaints are so valid that people in the 90's had the same issues with DnD, and they still persist to this day.
>>
>>731062258
They still persist to this day because they're basic bitch complaints made by people who have never played actual tabletop and don't understand that the pace and approach of tabletop is fundamentally different from modern video game rpgs

Nobody who's actually into it cares
>>
Speaking of classes, is pact of the blade just redundant now that hexblade exists?
>>
>>731061649
>>731061823
>>731062169
who let the kids in?

You complain about resting too much as if there drawbacks. There are few instances in the game where the player shouldn't take long rests, so take as many as you want and quit bitching. Even on Honor Mode, you will have more than enough supplies.
>>
>>731062258
>"Life Cleric" and a Paladin
Paladin has Divine Smite to convert slots to damage, an extra attack per round, and a number of powerful aura abilities at the cost of significantly reduced casting ability. You can argue "Paladin still gets divine spells" all you want. But a Cleric will get way more and higher levels of them. Fundamentally Cleric is a support class. Paladin is not. You are putting an awful lot of emphasis on heavy armor in conflating them.
>>
Damn this guy is fuming over 40 year old D&D mechanics pretty hard.
>>
>>731062910
No. Pact of the Blade is still the only way to get extra attack via Warlock. Hexblade only gets you melee with cha.
>>
>>731063221
I read somewhere that hexblades get extra attack on lvl 5, guess they removed it
>>
>>731061649
This game showers you with so much food I'm pretty sure you can long rest after every fight on tactician and never come up short. In fact considering how tightly party interactions are tied to long rests the devs expect you to do it very often
>You may go back to camp and sleep to regain spell usage, but we actually don't want the player resting too much in campaigns. We even included a trophy if you rest too much haha! >Resting is bad for some reason. We don't know why haha
This is all completely made up in your head
>Do you want to kill everyone you meet? Sure, you can do that, but you'll miss out on 50% of the content if you do so.
What did you actually expect to happen?
>We also included a Paladin. class. It's basically the same as a Cleric, but it can use heavy armor and better weapons.
>We included four different Oaths for you RP with, despite the fact only one of them is actually different from the other three.
>We have a lot of spells that you'll never use, but we put them in the game anyway.
You are actually retarded or illiterate
>>
Nah, it's just Pact of Blade is everyone's go-to Pact for Warlocks. Pact of Chain is sort of shit and Pact of Tome is only if you want to expand your spell choices a little bit. There's also a fourth pact where a Warlock can enchant talismans, but haven't seen a vidya implement that Pact.
>>
>>731063315
Hexblades get extra attack by taking pact of the blade like everyone else.
>>
>>731061823
Solasta does a great job at this to be desu
>>
>>731062982
It's a role playing game about a parasite taking over your body, with companions bitching about how they are about to die if you don't do their personal quest. You shouldn't be resting every time you take a step.

You can't seriously be defending this.
>>
>>731063748
You are INTENDED to rest frequently. Much of the story stuff is gated by rests. False urgency is a common issue in RPGs. See games as various as BG2 and Cyberpunk 2077 for that.
>>
>>731063748
Yes, I am defending this because I don't have autism that prevents me from engaging with the game mechanics, unlike you.
>>
>>731061649
>You're only allowed to cast spells 3-4 times a day and then you must rest to recover LE spell points
>>
>>731063927
I know you are interned to do it, but it aggressively conflicts with the story. there is "false sense of urgency" and then there is the game asking you to do the exact opposite of what the story tells you to. You rest MORE then you would want to (with an overnight cut scene) even if the story wasn't supposed to be urgent. I do not want to pack up and go to sleep when there is an goal literally 10 feet away.
>>
>>731061649
half of the stuff you listed is not an issue at all, it's just you personally not enjoying this type of RPG
which is fine, there are plenty others that are more streamlined
>>
>>731063748
See>>731063927

>>731063748
That's bs as the parasite soon looses any importance. Use it or not, up to you. Obviously a cut gimmick. The underdark mindflayer's dialogue indicates such.
>>
>>731063927
Disagree, you can't progress fast in bg2. It's meant to create tension and it does so well.
>>
>>731061649
>>You're only allowed to cast spells 3-4 times a day and then you must rest to recover LE spell points
>>I hope you like basic attacking a lot
>>We have spells that you can cast as much as you want, but they aren't as good.
there's basically zero limit on food, you can rest as much as you want
>You can enjoy playing Fighter, Barbarian, Rogue, Hunter, or Monk if that is a problem.
you mean ranger? they also have spells
>>We also included a Paladin. class. It's basically the same as a Cleric, but it can use heavy armor and better weapons.
4 of the 8 cleric classes have heavy armor and 3 of the 8 have the same weapons as paladins
>>
>>731061649
>4th and 5th edition makes the game more casual and video gamey, giving every class free heals and the ability to sleep off mortal damage in eight hours
>The biggest shitter in the world still can't understand the rules
>>
>>731065325
>makes the game more casual and video gamey,
In a bad way
>>
>>731063221
It's funny that pact of the blade is the best subclass for paladins. I know lore allows it in very specific circumstances but a warlock paladin is still amusing.
>>
>>731065367
Yes. They fucked with the tabletop game and retards still don't know how to play which is what makes it so tragic.
>>
>>731061649
>You may go back to camp and sleep to regain spell usage, but we actually don't want the player resting too much in campaigns
There's borderline zero punishment to resting, what are you on about? There are like three quests in the game with a hidden time limit, and it only procs when the start of the quest is activated.

>Do you want to kill everyone you meet? Sure, you can do that, but you'll miss out on 50% of the content if you do so.
>You didn't invest in charisma? Enjoy missing out on half the checks in the game and failing them.
You just sound like a bitch who gets mad at the idea of consequences tbqhwyf. Yes, killing everybody you meet tends to involve cutting threads. Not being skilled in tongue-fu means you can't blabber your way into easy answers.
>>
>>731064297
>not using your sorcery points for metamagic
Come on man
>>
Dungeons and dragons is supposed to be a strategic resource management skirmish game. OP is too retarded to understand this. Well, to be fair to OP, WOTC is also too retarded to understand this and they have watered that aspect of the game down for decades.
