sweats and social media ruined video games, games used to be so much more magical before everyone became obsessed with looking behind the curtain, the illusion has been destroyed

What did sweatpants ever do to video games?
>>
>>731063567
Nothing has changed other then the fact that you're not 10 years old anymore. Do you seriously think adults playing this game on release genuinely believed that bigfoot was in SA and got lost in the mystery of it all lmao?
Kids today think Five Night's at Freddy's is haunted instead or some shit like that, social media hasn't changed a thing in that regard.

>looking behind the curtain
You dont have to go read all that stuff, just play your games

Idk if I'm retarded or just cope, but one thing that ruined the magical aspect of gaming for me is knowing how they are made... all the programming, lines of code, tricks, dev tools and the empty and blank space behind every texture.
Yes... growing up sucks for vidya enjoyment... even more if you are not careful with your overall knowledge about game making

>knowing how they are made
but you can't know absolutely everything about a game's underlying systems. for me, understanding how some came to certain decisions and the implementation of said decisions is as as interesting as the gameplay itself. knowing why something is fun doesn't break the illusion of the fun experience by itself
>>
>>731065039
For me, it's not "knowing" they are made, but a fictional world lacking a thorough vision and the sense that it exists with or without the player observing it, which would make it feel simply real, rather than a mere show put on for a consumer, which instead gives it the identity of an entertainment product first and foremost.
That illusion was consistently there in the past, but now, blatant developer ego is too easy to spot in every little thing.

Nah, that's obviously a big part of what ruins the mystery. When I was a kid I genuinely thought that spaces in games worked according to real world logic, so if there was a door in the game there MUST have been something behind. Obviously that's retarded, but it's that naive retardation that's necessary for the true feeling of mystery to occur.

Wow. That's one big, stinky, stupid looking ape.
Oh is that Bigfoot in the trees?

when I was a kid I genuinely believed Rockstar can put in the game without modifying the it bigfoot and the other popular cryptids in the gta sa community
latter in life you watch these myths and legends videos just for the thrill of uncovering a (((mystery)))

I wandered for hours in shadow of the colossus, trying to find a way out of the known map.

Lmao yeah, bro looks like he skipped side quests and went straight to endgame with that walk cycle. I half-expect him to scream and throw a crate any second now. San Andreas Bigfoot still has a stronger presence than most horror game enemies today.

when I was a kid I was laughing at these "gta mysteries". maybe you're just retarded?
>>
>>731063495
I remember when I had my wigger phase at around 12 years old and I started buying 2pac CDs. It was around the same time I played San Andreas trying to see if there really is any secret monsters while I listen to rap. Looking back, gta games kind of suck, but 2pac is still good to listen to from time to time.

lol true the idea of unlocking certain doors in games was a big thing. Why can't I enter every house? will I find a key for that specific door? You would never think it was an empty 3d model
