I do think that the shrines hiding what they are and then being more varied makes them better than what other open world games are doing. Even Elden Ring was guilty of having the same few challenge types all over the world map, so Shrines stand out as being markedly different in that regard when they're a "surprise mechanic" of sorts. I do prefer them and I actually think both MKW and DKB are good games, however I'm becoming concerned with Nintendo attempting to stick this formula where it doesn't belong and the example for that is MP4.
