You DID get your handheld PC before they go out of stock everywhere due to RAM, right /v/?
>>731070963ye
>>731071015>Android
got it a year ago
>>731071051Do you have to watch that every time you turn it on
>>731071048you can install linux on it
>>731071102Only when booting it. You don't turn it off, you just put it to sleep most of the time.
>>731071102yes
i bought my bf a steam deck for christmas but i tried it out for a couple of weeks before putting it it back in the box and wrapping iti like it as a concept but it has no personal use case for me. >too big that i have to have a carrying case just to bring it outside>obviously games aren't designed with a "pick up and play" design philosophy so it's jarring to just play an open world game for 5 minutes while waiting for the next stop at the train>anything outside steam is a nightmare to tinker with
My S21 is still going strong.
>>731071320>obviously games aren't designed with a "pick up and play" design philosophyI did come to that same conclusion running emulators on my phone, I tried playing Metroid Prime 2 on Dolphin but every time I turned it on I spent 80% of the time just remembering where I was and what I was doing, by the time I figured out where I wanted to go it was time to put it down>>731071558what game
>>731070963I think monolithic hardware from major vendors like this is going to be fine for a while. It's the parts you buy separately that are going to go out of fashion.
>>731071937These handheld PCs aren't any more "monolithic" than a given laptop out of the yearly lineup from these same manufacturers, there's usually 2-3 variations from each vendor and they're refreshed every year
>>731071051Atlus shit
>>731071820 Warband with Age of Sword and Magic mod on Wine for android
>>731070963I dont play video games outside. When i outside i just use my phone to scroll youtube shorts
>>731070963No I barely touched my pc all winter I'm not buying another useless meme
>>731074176just one more gadget bro
>>731070963I got a steam deck when Steam had it on sale during a sale, was cheap. I haven't used it for anything yet since I have a powerful desktop, but I can think of contexts where it'll come in handy in the future
>>731070963Got a retroid 5 right before the tariffs hit last year.Best purchase I ever made holy fuck.>mfw ram prices now>mfw the steam box is priced around $800
>>731071051God, fatlus shit is so aggressively ugly.
>>731070963I have been steam deck master race since day 1
>>731071320>it's jarring to just play an open world game for 5 minutesi feel like 90 minutes is the minimum commute length for handheld pc gayman to not be awkward. it was great for doing long trainrides in japan. where i do use it a lot for 'pick up and play' stuff is while i make dinner. it's nice to be able to pick up the game you were already playing docked and then do 20 minutes handheld waiting for the oven
>>731071051>he doesnt use the steam delivery girl startupwhat a fag.
>>731070963A laptop? Yes I have one
I'm using a 64 GB LCD Deck that I got back when they were getting rid of the last stock of that one for $280.It works for my purposes.Word of warning though, if you're going to get a 64 GB Deck, Decky is mandatory.
>>731070963Yep
>>731070963Switch 2, better get one now anons
>>731076601You are supposed to change the 64 gigas yourself for 1 or 2 teras
>>731076667>Buys device capable of running games made this century>Uses it to play shitty weeb-slop from 2009 that any half decent air fryer could emulate. What
>>731071320Stop being gay.
>>731076601What the other guy said.t.2TB
>$35 r36s with 16000 classic games>hacked 3ds with a thousand games>oled deck with 20,000 games>>731071051>not using this startup vidhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xHPwsypHR30
>>731071320>anything outside steam is a nightmare to tinker withUnironically get gud
I'm waiting for a possible steam deck 2 but with the current ram situation that may not happen in a long time
>handheldWhat, I have a steamdeck that I never use because handhelds are dogshit, just buy a miyoo.
>>731070963>handheldWhat for? I stream my PC directly to my phone with a controller attached for better experience than those.
>>731077648You were going to use it to play old games anyway so there is no point to wait for a steam deck 2
>>731071102If you don't have a startup video loaded, you're still just looking at the steam deck logo for the same amount of time.
>>731079047Doesn't it have a fast NVME for the boot system?
>>731070963Got a Pocket Air Mini for retro emulationWaiting for Intel Panther Lake PC handheldsPlease GPD Win 5 get rid of the external battery pack
>>731080643If you have the system shut down for a while, the startup is going to take a while and there's a default startup where the logo is on screen for a few seconds, does a little animation and then goes to your homescreen. So there's always going to be something there regardless if you have a custom video or not
>>731070963I got a Deck when they came out.
Does PS2 still run like ass on the 'eck
yup, have had a legion go for over a yearbeen enjoying ps3 emulation on it lately, played god of war 3 all weekend. hella fun
>>731070963I got a 14inch gaming laptop instead
>>731078102is this project tamriel? I was looking to try it but desu i find morrowind a little too outdated so i probably wont enjoy it
>>731070963yeah, but I still haven't really used it because I play too many strategy games
>>731077284>>Buys device capable of running games made this centuryHardly
>>731082182Yes
>>731070963im waiting for onexsugar 3 but if prices go up ima just not bother
>>731081126It runs good
>>731070963Steam Deck OLED will continue to get stock though until the Steam Deck 2.0.
>>731083704
>>731077648Deck 2 will be fine, stop worrying. Building a PC is what's dying. Valve kind of ironically spelled that out in their Steam Machine interviews about people shifting to just wanting their PCs already built for them.
>>731083083Not GT4
>>731084220That's most of a PCSX2 thing than the steam deck
>>731084318no it's not
>>731070963give me a good reason to
>>731081126its fantastic>this is with 1080p rendering and antialiasing
>>731070963no i dont need a handheld pc
