You now remember when this game was considered some sort of masterpiece
It is tho.
>>731077065>do you remember 2015-2026
>>731077065Just like TLOU and GOW2018can't wait to talk about E33 like this
>>731077065It is. I still play it all the time
>>731077065And it holds up better than some brand new games.
One of the most annoying things about the praise this game gets is when people claim the Bloody Baron questline was a side quest when 90% of it you need to do to progress the main quest and you can then choose whether to finish it or not.Another thing is when people praise the open world design yet you have a level 5 camp of enemies located very close to a level 25 camp of enemies.
>>731080975True while side quests are better than pretty much any other game (because 30% of them have an act 2 and act 3 at times)Bloody baron is pretty much a part of the main quest
>>731077065Witcher 3 is a masterpiece
>>731077065What I dislike about it is that everything is merely adequate. It's not bad at all but it reeks of mediocrity from everything to the combat to open world design to the writing. It's decent enough at most things to be praised but not good enough to actually stand out as a land mark title or anything. It's just barely better than an ubisoft release. I actually like the witcher 1 the most despite it having the worst combat ever, its the most memorable to me. Witcher 2 is actual trash, though.
>>731077065It will never not piss me off that for years after its release, TW3 was considered one of the best RPGs of all time DESPITE NOT HAVING ANY BUILDS. People cried about FO4 being a fake RPG but at least that game HAD FUCKING BUILDS. TW3's build progression was literally just a stat treadmill. The game would have played exactly the same if none of that was in the game; in fact it would have been a better game since you wouldn't waste time grinding the tedious combat for levels.
>>731077065I liked Hearts of Stone
>>731077065I still think it is, both a masterpiece, and the last good CDProjectREKT game
>>731082209It's mechanically worse than Cyberpunk in just about every way conceivable. CDPR fans are moviegamers in denial.
It is
Still is. Game of the decade desu argue with the wall
>>731077065>When you complete the Tower Out of Nowhere Quest>Turn down reward while this music plays and leave like the ending of a moviehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xPM6_10itZI
>>731077065It's literally the reason why everything is a narrative open world action rpg these days. It was THAT good and THAT medium defining.
>>731077065I found the Witcher 3 enjoyable, especially the DLC.
>>731083641>the face I make after putting the shopping cart back
>>731082095can’t teach an old woof new tricks anon
>>731077065it is
>>731082209The boat was being built by a giant looking to get off the island, right?
Why are yennefer fans cucks? You people give a bad rep to this game with your cuckery
>>731083909Right, it makes no thematic sense for TW3 to have stat progression. There's no narrative conceit like Geralt having amnesia again. He's already one of the most capable warriors in the world at the start of the game and a few weeks of practice isn't going to make much of a difference. The reason TW3 is an RPG is simply because it's expected to be an RPG. It's such cowardly fucking design. Whole systems that have literally no reason to be there, but simply exist just because it MUST be an RPG so it MUST have [blank].
>>731077065Just needed to be more difficult. Combat in 2 looked and felt better, despite it being more clunky. 1 also had the superior skill system. Other than that, it's pretty damn good
>>731084173If you ask the crazed guy knitting the sails, the giant knew that Ragnarok (the White Frost) was coming and wanted to join in with Wild Hunt
I've read that a worrying amount of women liked this game, and I'm afraid to understand how.
>>731077065Tried replaying it again and MAN is it fucking terrible. There’s good moments scattered throughout the game but for the most part it’s poorly written dialogue contrasted with janky stiff animations
>>731085327What's so bad about the dialogue?
>>731085395Idk. It’s brief, shallow, and you get “optional” dialogue that doesn’t affect anything related to the dialogue itself.
>>731077065It is. Go back to your discord troony
>>731085512>It’s briefAs in not enough dialogue?>shallowDo you mean it lacks character? >and you get “optional” dialogue that doesn’t affect anything related to the dialogue itself. All the extra dialogue is usually just for some fluff or to get more details about whatever you're talking about. It's standard RPG conversations, but I don't think that makes the dialogue itself poorly written. You never feel like Geralt isn't Geralt, for example
If it was less popular you'd all love it
>>731077065I still consider it the best writing in gaming history. Detlaffe, the bloody baron questline etc. Still hasnt been surpassed.
>>731085978You’re right, I can’t really articulate what I don’t like about it. I just find the constant dialogue with the terrible stiff animations accompanying it making up like 40% of the gameplay experience to be very annoying. I’m not a professional critic or anything so you know…
>>731086103witcher 1 is less popular and most people don't love it, while I think that the story and atmosphere beats both W2 and W3. witcher 3 came out during a rpg drought and when games tried to be as bland as possible
>>731086218Legacy of Kain, mostly SR 1, 2 and Defiance can give it a run for its money. But they're different types of stories and aren't aiming for the same thing, so they can't be compared directly
>>731086291Fair enough
>>731077065It still is, even though the combat is its weakest part. The atmosphere, soundtrack, first and third act of the main quest, the majority of the witcher hunts, DLCs, especially Hearts of Stone.
>>731077065There has never been another game that made me read all the books In It's universe.
romancing yen and letting triss get tortured is canon KEK
>>731090298Why?
>>731077065>you now remember 10 years agoincredible
>>731077065bump
witcher 1 was kino. just make sure to buy that anti-drowner charm in the first chapter because drowners are annoying as FUCK in witcher 1...or rather the repeated trudging through the little swamp area which is infested with respawning drowners.
>>731077065It's a flawed masterpiece. I still prefer W2 for the story and atmosphere.
>>731077065How about a few rounds of Gwent OP?
I hate how killing Dettlaff is considered the good ending in the dlc. That stupid bitch deserved to die.
Im playing kcd2 and my god does it make witcher 3 look like a masterpiece in comparisoneven Witcher 1 had many things better executed leading to a more cohesive experience.
>>731077065It's a masterpiece because until it released, the general thought was that only Bethesda could make large open world RPGs, and that they had to be clunky and buggy by defaultThe game fucking exposed Todd as an incompetent
>>731095131gwent is kino, when it's a fair fight. also I love dryads.
>>731090298Same but the books sucked, sadly.
>>731090298Why would you read genre fiction? Are you 12?
>>731095312Gwent > triple triad
>>731095454>Why would you read genre fiction? Are you 12?Im 39 and I've never read a non-fiction book, it's boring
>>731095526you should try reading some historical books, history is very interesting and the very thing that has inspired fiction writers, lots of intrigue you wouldn't even believe.
She and her sister suck and both deserved to die.
>>731095239I saved dettlaf for my nigga Regis
>>731080975I got so tired of the baron by the end of it.>WAAAH I treat my wife like dogshit and killed my kid FEEL SORRY FOR ME WAAAAH
>>731095886I'd love to see them both suck in action, but I am against violence.
>>731082095The game is designed for you to level through quests not through combat you retard. You do quests within 5 to 6 levels of yourself and explore the world which yields more events and quests. If you play the game naturally you'll end up over leveled with a huge log of quests to still yet to complete.
It still is. Genuinely crazy. I mean, we've all grown up in the same zeitgeist, we've played the same games, watched the same cartoons... So why? Why do this to me and pretend like TW3, BoTW or Elden Ring are any good?
>>731095696You better have read pre-1945 academic history books and not pop-history.
>>731096153Game was designed with normies in mind ye. The main quests give you the most XP so you will never fall behind. There's like 1 or 2 instances where you have to do a few more side activities to get to next main quest phase. In comparison some ass creed games have a hard lock on the main quests and you have to do tons of shitty side content to be able to progress. I quit ass creed origins because it was a slog.
>>731096159how would anyone here play botwits not on pc
>>731096343been on pc since release bro
>>731096343I got a wii u to play botw as it leaked early on wiiu
