Numpads don't have rotary encoders, levers, self locking buttons etc, and the Ignition -> Engine start sequence is just nice for immersion's sake.
Anyway, I've mainly got it because it's fun (and quite cheap when on sale on Ali), but I'd also say that it's decently useful on games like Assetto Corsa Competizione where you can very easily run out of buttons (especially if you don't have a dedicated GT3/F1/HY wheel).

>>
>>731086092
Oh, right, it's a bit more expensive, but I guess I'll go with it. Logitech generally makes solid products. The reviews seem positive too, most people praise the build quality and force feedback and apparently the software is the biggest issue, which doesn't seem like a big deal for me. direct drive doesn't feel like a real wheel, sorry
i get that it provides better feedback but that's only because it's substituting for the total lack of other feedback (forces, pedals, etc.) but it is unrealistic and i don't like how it feels
if i want to invest more money it will be in the little rumble things for under your ass or active pedals, not a direct drive

If that's not a FFB wheel then that's what happens. That's why simracers never recommend you to get non-FFB wheels and just use a controller instead at that point.
>>
>>731089537
i will say this is coming from a casual racist perspective though, i'm sure if you want to seriously compete a DD wheel is nice to have and i haven't driven a Real Race Car so maybe the wheels do feel like a DD in those, but i just like to hop in rally games or a shitbox in ac and go, and the logitech + shifter is perfect for that.
>>731089620
at a certain point we have to admit that simracing will never be like driving a real car and we're just buying things that add a measure of similitude for fun and not because it's going to feel real

the Nm of your wheel is directly proportional to the size of your e-peen
>>
>>731091090
yes to a point
but the reason why isn't just power, its that it has more range for detail
I think 12-15nm peak is where there is no reason to upgrade from
and you run it not at 100% anyway
VD6 is 7nm peak and is completely fine unless you go into autism
>>
>>731080073
kino
>>
>>731091142
this is my personal order in regards to those PS2 ones.
G27/G25 > Driving Force GT/Pro > GT Force > Driving Force/EX >>>>>> anything else
the gt force and driving force/ex seem to be mostly the same, just putting the former above cuz it has better compatibility with older PS2 titles but that's irrelevant if you emulate.
personally i would just recommend getting something with a proper H shifter cuz that's the arcade intended experience for stuff like daytona or sega rally, you can buy it separately and get adapters but it's probably gonna be more expensive in the long run.
also, make sure you play the proper arcade version of these games using the M2emulator or supermodel, they're fully working with FFB.
>>
>>731089537
>doesn't feel like a real wheel
Neither does your shitty marked up G25
>>
>>731090305
Bullshit
>>
>>731091717
some more shit worth knowing that i just remembered.
the GT force is actually just a wingman formula force GP, so if you find that one you can also get it, PC only.
also, to use these old logitech wheels on windows 11, you have to disable "memory integrity" under core isolation in windows security.
>>
>>731085185
Depends on the game, and your car and environment.. I credit GT3/4's licence tests with saving my ass when I lost engine and brakes on a steep hill mountain area.

If you play initial D, or games with F1 maximum downforce or 600 HP GT monstrosities that you ram other cars into gravel with, it won't translate well to your 90 HP FF shitbox.

If I lived in a place with road ice, I would make my kids play years of ice simulators before letting them drive.

There is barely any notable difference with wheelbases so just going for Moza, PXN, Simagic etc is always going to be the default just from the price stand point and most difference comes from software quality and SimHub compatability really.

Fanatec was one of the old brands that sold expensive shit when G29 was the gold standard for entry into sim racing but that was nearly 20 years ago and competition get more robust by the day.
