Is SF6 really that good?
>>731085142It's the only decent fighter from the former big titles. It has some problems but it still works unlike Tekken which shit the bed and then shit it explosively when "fixing it".
>>731085142It's by far the most popular fighting game in Japan thanks to the reach its community had in building stuff beyond "pro tournaments"
only modern game that didnt go tranny modeyea
It's not really about the quality, SF6 became a lifestyle brand in Japan somehow.
>>731085142>there was a time when Tekken dethroned SF as EVO's headliner gamecrazy to see it fall so hard after it reached such a height
>>731085142>SF6 at 1>VSAV at 5>HnK at 9>Strive at 2I fucking kneel especially for VSAV.
>>731085142>tekken 8 is barely above GBVSHoly fucking shit. People saying GBVS is dead, but Tekken 8 fell off way harder and much higher
>>731085142>kekken
>>731086712It is.
>>731085142honestly not really. the singleplayer tried to do something which was good but basically completely failed at it which is bad. the roster is small and they're very slow to add more characters.it mostly looks pretty shitty too, beginning with the terrible cover image with the completely headass decision for the expression they give Luke. And the decision to use Luke as posterboy at all is pretty bad too, no one likes Luke.I dunno you could go on forever, it's a very flawed game. Mechanically it's okay at least, I don't think it's significantly worse than most other SF games at least.
>>731086523pretty similair numbers to the big vsav tournament they have in japannumbers probably going to be half of that at na evo but thats still pretty good
I was in japan like 3 weeks agosf6 and sf4 is what people are playing in the arcade
i didn't know unib was so much smaller in japan than the west
>>731085142Considering this is still the current numbers, seems the final numbers would still be grim as usual with that much entrants for SF6. Kudos to VSAV though.
>>731085142I'm just happy MB still has players
>>731086523It's astonishing how people accept Guilty Gear as a big player nowadays thanks to Strive.Xrd literally had like 600k sales in total. THE pretender game actually became a game people actually play instead of simply running their mouth about.>>731087139I lived in Japan for over a year and you're lying.Yes, there are some SF arcades here and there. Same for Tekken. The only game people truly play at the arcades today is Gundam VS. Kanagwa, Tokyo, Osaka, Kyoto. That was the only game that was present and being played everywhere.
>>731085615>It's by far the most popular fighting game in Japanthat's kind of wild since iirc its initial release was a total flop. even getting outsold by some niche Dungeon crawler rerelease.
>>731087490>It's astonishing how people accept Guilty Gear as a big player nowadays thanks to Strive. And with ranked mode plus the upcoming 2.0 expansion update, it sure do boosted the franchise's playerbase. Can't wait for more info.
>>731087490"Big player" is a stretch when it has 1/15th as many entrants as the next biggest title, even if it's 2nd. It has fallen off very very hard since launch, or in other words, it was a SF6 waiting room.
>>731085142those tekken numbers make me so sad man
>>731085142no its terrible.
>>731085142>Is SF6 really that good? No, it's just the least retarded of the bunch. T8 started less retarded (slightly) but shat itself hard with season 2. GG strive is a total joke compared to Xrd and the others are all niche/memes.Bring back Soul Calibur, 6 shits on all of these
This is for evo japan, and japs love SF more than anything.
>>731085142>Strive is fucking second even after the abortion that was s4that's wild
As a casual fighting game player SF6 is the first game I stuck with longer than a month. Mainly because the QoL, onboarding and online is very good. I also just llike how it animates and feels, punching shit feels good, I did not enjoy the weird UE4 jank feel of SFV
>>731088323True, this is also for early registration so expect the number to go higher
>>731085710>open the game>immediately greeted by a tranny
>>731085710MANon would snap your neck if she heard you spouting such nonsense
>>731088384There's still many players waiting for the 2.0 update.
>>731088547animations have literally never been worse than in 6.
JP was never that big on tekken in the first place so the numbers look really weird. That being said the game is in a dire state. Even if this were for US Evo numbers, I wouldn't be booking a thousand dollar trip to Vegas ($238 for normal tickets, $400 for airfare, $450 for 3 nights in a hotel, plus eating out all weekend), just so I could go get mixed by Anna's stupid fucking offense and maybe go 1-2.
>>731085142tekkjeets... what happened??
>>731085142fgc poors are pissed that 1 evo sold out to saudis and 2 japan successfully got 'modern audience' the likes of maxd00d or whatever could never
Lots of fg threads today. I love it.
>>731087139>sf4based
>>731087139>sf4lol
>>731087490ime in most places there was maybe one fightan/retro arcade where actual fightanfags would go and then gundam/wangan/initial d everywhere else. i was shocked by how many vf & virtual on players i saw though.t7 cabs were completely empty everywhere
>>731089242>evo sold out to saudiswas already sold out to Sony and Pokimane>japan successfully got 'modern audience' the likes of maxd00d or whatever could neverfeels like a Japan only fad to be honest, if it's still booming when SF7 comes around I'll be impressed
.
>>731091262I kinda have to scoff at anyone being like “now this Saudi shit is crossing the lines” when the modern fgc was already asking for this shit. What did these dipshits always say? “Gotta chase that bag” well guess what. You sleep in the bed you make too.
>>731085142SF6 is a 9/10 package for maybe a 6-7/10 gameit oscillates a lot between being fun, and being absolute cancer for reasons both linked to system mechanics and characters
